Re: CVette's 2022 Soil Test
Thanks Morpheus, that was super quick! I added my past amendments below the result from each year to the image below so you can see what impact they had on the following year: https://i.postimg.cc/ThNsfLqM/Soil-Combo.jpg Two follow-up questions: 1) Should I apply any Epsom salts with the lime? I've ...

CVette's 2022 Soil Test
Attached is my 2022 Logan Labs soil test alongside my history. TEC dropped but OM jumped - I know they're related but I'm not seeing the trend. In the past I applied lime every other year based on the soil test. In 2021 I applied 4#/k once to try to keep it up. I'll probably apply lime each off year...

Re: Soil Test Interpretation for a Relative
Thanks Andy! Time to go shopping. My fertilizer options are:
Pennington 10-10-10 at 0.38 $/lb of product
Siteone/lesco 19-19-19 at 1.00 $/lb of product
Pennington is still less expensive when adjusting for N. Please let me know the application rate for 10-10-10.

Re: Soil Test Interpretation for a Relative
Right or wrong, I ordered seed today. I didn't want KBG (high input) or PR. I felt TTTF wouldn't match the fine blades of the existing lawn so I went with 100% fine fescue from SSS after looking at the NTEP reports:
30% Radar (Chewings)
40% Cardinal II (Creeping)
30% Gladiator (Hard)

Soil Test Interpretation for a Relative
Hi All, An older relative has been having issues with his lawn and we’ve completed a soil test as the first step to reseeding. Here are the details: - Approx 15k sqft in zone 5 (Andy, he’s in Clifton Park too) - No irrigation except Mother Nature and a hose - Synthetic fertilizer 3 to 4 x per year, ...

Re: CVette's 2020 Soil Test
Hi Andy, I have rain coming by Tuesday night. I'd like to at least get the lime/Epsom down if I am trying to get two apps in 90 days apart. If not, I can save an app for next year and only hit it once this year. Please take a look at my questions when you have a moment - thanks!

Re: CVette's 2020 Soil Test
OK, thanks. I only mention it as I have not been consistent when I take the sample. In the future I will try to shoot for 4".
The lawn is approximately 19k sqft. I use 20 for my calculations when buying product by weight.

Re: CVette's 2020 Soil Test
For the lime application, assuming #10 per ksqft just for comparison sake: Sta-green fast acting calcitic lime = $104 Mag-i-cal = $180 Mag-i-cal Plus = $240 I’m thinking I save my money and use Sta-green and Anderson’s DG unless Mag-i-cal replaces it and saves me from a separate application of humat...

Re: CVette's 2020 Soil Test
Actually, I’m not disappointed, I know it is a marathon. I think I am seeing the results in a thicker lawn that is more resistant to heat. I haven't been consistent with sampling depth, does it enter into your calculation or is it anecdotal? I’m averaging about 70# per thousand (50-50 Milo and SBM/A...

CVette's 2020 Soil Test
Attached is my 2020 Logan Labs soil test alongside my history. Best OM percent to date but still "mediocre". Please perform a soil analysis and suggest micros, lime and any other actions to be taken. Soil Testing Question
I'm using Logan Labs and have used them in the past for my soil tests. Previously I had shipped the sample out 1-2 days after I took it. This year it's been 2 weeks since I took the sample but haven't shipped it yet. Do I need to take a new sample or is the one I have still good? I didn't know if th...

Re: Growth Stoppage
I'm still new to predicting when growth stops. Lately, even during the warmest part of the day, the grass is still crunchy and leaves foot prints so I'm not inclined to take the lawn tractor out and check my bag. I suppose I'll have to though. Last 10 days: - highs: 34,39,37,43,32,25,37,50,34,37 - l...

Re: Seed suggestions for shade reno
Thanks Green. When we bought the house it was predominantly FF and the front yard is still FF since I haven't reno'd it yet. It gets red thread every year and I simply let it run its coarse. Thankfully the KBG hasn't been afflicted by any disease I've seen attack the FF. Some searching revealed that...

Seed suggestions for shade reno
Hi All, About 7 years ago I reno'd most of my back yard using Bewitched/Nuglade/Bedazzled. Even though some areas only get about 2-4 hours of sun, I figured I'd redo anything that didn't survive due to lack of direct sun. It's thin and I'm thinking it's time to redo it. All of my reno's so far have ...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Standing by with urea. Plan to test/cut every 4 days until I see no clippings. Then wait about 5 days, double check that all growth has definitely stopped, then drop the urea. Kinda concerned that the soil might be frozen when the time comes. I never paid attention to that before, so not sure what ...

Re: Snow cover anyone?
I'm in your boat. Temps dropped quickly and I got my last mow in yesterday. Today I'll be cleaning the gutters and putting the lawn furniture away before we get 5-8" tonight. 42deg on Saturday and then it's low 30s for the next 10 days. This probably won't be the last time I see the green ground but...
