Loving this thread, so thank you for the effort! How is the FF thinning project/experiment coming along?

Re: Killing Fine Fescue...
Old thread, but was wondering if anyone has had any success over the past few years with old or new techniques for selectively eliminating fine fescue in a KBG lawn? Thanks in advance!

Re: Rain Machine or Skydrop or ????
Another vote for the Rachio with one caveat; as of last year, the programming/software did not allow for a delay between zones. This was important to me as I'm on a well and needed recovery time. Looking forward to them programming this feature so I can get back to using the Rachio. It was great to...

Poa Annua & KBG
Hello, After a failed KBG renovation last fall (short description below), I needed to get a lawn growing this spring so I seeded with Double Eagle PR. While it's coming along nicely for the most part, I have noticed that I have an abundance of poa annua coming in as well. Or at least what I thought ...

Also, can I apply GrubEx 1 at this time or would it be ineffective?

Grubs?
Is it possible that grubs are eating my seedlings' roots? I have large sections that appear to have are no germination and when I examine those areas closely, I find a bunch of the little buggers. Any chance they're feeding on the dead grass as well?

Re: Dilemma
Just a quick update for all of those dying to know what happened. Well I ended up seeding on Aug 22 with KBG seed and would have to say it's been a failure so far. After returning from vacation I went right to work that week, so it took me another whole week to realize my irrigation system was faili...

Re: Quick way for a last minute renovation ?
Go for it! I'm basically doing the same thing this week. Except I nuked my lawn two days ago and I'm seeding tomorrow. What's the worst that can happen!?

Re: Dilemma
Thanks Chuck. Unfortunately I'm flying out of state so delaying the vacation is not possible. Well I guess it is technically, but I would be divorced if I did!

Dilemma
Ok, so after sitting on the fence about renovating, I pulled the trigger and nuked my lawn this past Wednesday (8/19) with the idea of scalping and seeding on Saturday/Sunday. I'm leaving on vacation Sunday night and won't return until late the following Sunday (8/30). I have about 20k of lawn that ...

Re: Riding Mower Recommendations
Budget is $1500 to $3000. I don't think I need a commercial mower, just a decent residential mower that cuts well, mulches and can tow a cart.

Riding Mower Recommendations
Hello,
Just found out that my riding mower's engine is beyond repair so I'm looking for suggestions on a new mower. I have about 23k of lawn that is fairly sloped. Looking for reliability, cut quality and decent turn radius.
Any and all comments welcome!
Thank you

Re: Sourcing Bewitched
Thanks for this info! Didn't realize that the price included shipping. That makes it much more attractive and I was overbuying at 30 lbs so 25 will work fine.StayOffMyLawn wrote:Seed Super Store sells 25lbs for $192, shipped.

Re: Sourcing Bewitched
Thanks turftoes. I've been going back and forth with Nathan at Summit and it looks like they only had their enhanced version available as of a few days ago. Looks like I may have missed my chance at getting that, but I would rather get raw seed and "enhance" it myself. Great info on this year's crop...

Sourcing Bewitched
Hey gang, has anybody had any luck sourcing sod quality Bewitched recently (at a sub-$10/lb)? I need about 30 lbs and whether or not I can find it will determine if I renovate this year. Also, how long will raw seed stay viable in a dry basement that fluctuates between 50 and 62 degrees annually? I'...

Re: mflinn's spring 2015 soil test
Thanks Andy. I'll stick to the previously prescribed regimen. I have micros on hand if you would like to provide some guidance there. Any chance the lab messed up? When I bagged the soil, I would never have described it as sandy. Or rather, any chance that all of the snow we received over the winter...
