Re: TTTF Seed recommendation Long Island NY

Sorry I haven't gotten back. Just welcomed the birth of my daughter. From what I see, there are some bad patches caused by sod worm, even though I put some preventer in mid-June. These areas are not thin spots but bare spots. Ideally I wouldn't want to mix of course and I agree with Andy of it being...

TTTF Seed recommendation Long Island NY

Hello everyone, I have a TTTF lawn, front and back, using Hogan blend. I typically every year buy a 10lbs bag to overseed and reseed those sections that didn't survive the summer. Money is a little tight this year and I don't want to wait a week to seed this year. Does anyone know where I might get ...

Why is my grass dying...third year in a row.

Hello everyone, I am wondering if you can all help me figure out why my lawn, specifically the front lawn, tends to dry out and die. I think I am doing everything correctly (I.e. watering every 3 days for one inch, stopped last fert application in June, mow height is high at 4”, always bag). For the...

Can you mix different herbicides?

Hello everyone, Hope all is well. I am finally done with one hell of a month at work. Walking around my yard and notice I really spot spray around the yard one last time. I've been dealing with a pretty bad case of clover in the back and some random other weeds. In the past, I've used speedzone, whi...

Can tenacity be applied with mild rain?

Hello everyone, Just finished overseeding in this lovely rainy day where I live. It has been simply drizzling all day but decided spread seed, rolled, and put down some peat moss. It was actually much easier because the soil was soft and there was very good seed/soil contact. Normally, after the pes...

Can I spot spray herbicide, put down fungicide and fert?

Hello everyone, It’s been raining quite a bit here on LI. As a result, I’m noticing some dollar spots around the yard. I want to apply a fungicide to hopefully help but also want to spot spray some speedway and apply fert. Can I do that all in one day? Only reason I want to do it is simply because I...

Mow to 1 1/2 inch for overseed? Really?

I'm about to overseed tomorrow of the really bad areas hit by fungus over the summer. I know it's late but I can't control life. Read the entire article on overseeding over at the FAQ and I'm good with everything with the exception that of mowing down to 1 1/2 inch. Currently down to 2" and I am lit...

Chapin 26021XP 2 gallon sprayer fix or chuck?

Hey everyone, Just curious to know what you all do once a sprayer starts leaking at the tip even when you're not depressing the trigger. I have the Chapin 26021XP 2 gallon sprayer for the last three years. Anyone know what might be causing the chronic leak? Is it worth fixing or just buy a new one? ...

Peatmoss or compost top dress overseeding

Hello everyone, Just curious to know what do you all prefer when overseeding to top dress, peat moss or compost? Had an interesting discussion with a neighbor who suggested that compost was more benificial to the lawn overall while peat moss adds no benefits as it's steril. I am planning to actually...

Is overseeding a must and Fall nitrogen regimen.

Hello everyone, I would like to start by thanking everyone with all the advice over the years. My lawn has come a long way compared to when I first gotten my home. Now that September is fast approaching, I wanted to pick everyones brain. Considering I have a Hogan Blend TTTF lawn, will overseeding b...

Couldn't post the other pics on clumping fescue here they go. Also included a pick of what looks like black spots on these leaves that might explain the fungus. https://s23.postimg.cc/dh6qtf807/IMG_4885.jpg https://s3.postimg.cc/ma03uej67/IMG_4886.jpg https://s13.postimg.cc/dd5j9lb9v/IMG_4888.jpg

Possible brown patch, clumping fescue, where did I go wrong???

Hello everyone, Just wanted to touch on the community to see if you can all confirm my hunches and hopefully help me formulate a game plan. This year my lawn has been looking pretty good overall but I think I went a little too heavy during overseeding in the fall. Now I am seeing areas that are dyin...

Grub preventative....NY

Hello everyone, Was curious to know what product I can use to prevent grub worms. I've had issues for the last two years and wanted to throw down a preventative like merit but find that cannot be purchased in NY - even online. Only thing I can buy is the Bayer 24 hour grub killer. Should I just wait...

Re: Daimbert soil test 2017.

Does anyone know if I could also put down some milo when I apply urea in my next app? I'm trying to figure out why my yard is slowing down growth. Also getting some browning and was wondering if it's lacking water.

A for the micro cans I mix it with the urea or does it always have to be milo.

https://s5.postimg.cc/45hzbmgpv/IMG_4713.jpg https://s5.postimg.cc/e42xy3q5f/IMG_4709.jpg O.K. got it to work. I was reading possible rust fungus or that I need more nitrogen. I'll be honest, with my job going way to crazy this year, I couldn't put down any nitrogen until May 14. I put down 2lbs Ur...

Random dead spots...any clue?

Hey everyone, My grass has been looking great the last few weeks. We've been getting quite a bit of rain over here in Long Island which helped I'm sure. This week I've been seeing randome brown patches in the front yard. I was thinking that it's probably a fungus or blight as after it rains these ar...
