Re: Potential Serrenade replacement?

In the past, i have used Natria, but that seems to be gone now too. Any reason why these are no longer available?

Re: Bazil’s 2022 Lawn Renovation

I feel your pain. Mother Nature has not cooperated in the Northeast for lawn renovations. I think we have a relatively calm window in next few days to seed washout areas. In addition, as more seed germinates erosion and wash out are less likely to happen. Nonetheless, i agree with Masbustelo that yo...

New Seedlings Matted Down

I did my TTTF renovation on August 25th (yesterday was a week). I had decent germination going into yesterday. We got 8 inches of rain yesterday (in 6 hours). It seems like a lot of the germinating seed is now lying flat intertwined with the deed grass i seeded into (along with some trails of the pe...

Re: Mixing the Seed

I have a question on topdressing the seed. I typically always use Peat Moss, but i found that in areas with dirt (where you are filling in low section) with 2-3 inches of topsoil, a heavy rain will wash out the peat moss and dirt (if early in seeding process). I have found that Penn Mulch does a rea...

Re: Replacing Soil

You can certainly do what you are recommending, but you can also improve the soil by using soil conditioners/liquid aerating products (see section on it on the board). In our development which was originally farmland, the builders stripped off all the topsoil and sold it. While i was not the origina...

Re: Bazil’s 2022 Lawn Renovation

You have tackled a very large renovation. 20,000 square feet is a lot. I hope you can keep up with the watering. As far as weeds, i might recommend Proscape 21-22-4 with .08 mesotrione. I have used it in my last 2 renos and, they have come out very well with essentially no weeds. I always tended to ...

Mixing the Seed

I have done quite a few renovations over the year as i have had so much tree and truck damage to the lawn based on Hurricane Sandy, Isaias, a Microburst, Ash borer beetle etc. And based on these renovations (which have been large, and in some cases small), it seems that i have never been able to get...

Re: Is topsoil necessary for renovation ?

I agree with Andy about not disturbing the soil. Nonetheless, the one thing i do like about putting down topsoil is it really seems to limit the Poa Annua and Trivialis (at least in my experience) for the renovation. I have had some many trees removed due to Sandy, Ash Borer Beetle along with huge O...

Re: Velocity results so far and questions

The directions on spot spraying are not great (which i have done). The directions also say to use it within a certain amount of time from mixing (like a few hours). Anyway, did you keep reusing the same original mixture(i.e. similar to what most of us do with tenacity) or do you create a new mixture...

Re: Questions for those using Velocity

Green, I just posted a thread about my Velocity experience and schedule. Where is the thread? I am about to start using Velocity. I guess i am going to go with the slow conversion. I am really just looking to wipe out the trivialis. I may just focus on a few spots to test to see if it works. I have...

Re: Annua vs. Triv vs. Quack

I have not disturbed my soil in 4.5 years. Nonetheless, I seem to think that in some springs, the PT is worse than others. As a result, my question is does the PT continue to get worse over time, or is it simply dependent on the weather (i.e. hot summer and somewhat dry fall set it back)? The one th...

Re: Velocity purchase

I was one of the customers that bought Velocity on eBay. I recently applied it to some spots of Trivialis and did not see any change. I only used 1 teaspoon for a gallon of water so i may need to go with a higher dose. In addition, I did not add any surfactant as I thought the online product guide i...

Re: No-net tall fescue seed source (reminder).

I bought a 5 lb bag for an overseed. It's only a 1k/ sqft area I lost when I sprayed Velocity. [ Post made via iPhone ] http://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/images/mobile/iPhone.png Can you elaborate more on the Velocity? I got some on eBay but have not used yet. It sounds like it killed the TTTF too.

Re: Topsoil depth - will it increase over time? If so, how l

Should I instead take the bottom 1 inch of top soil on a sample-by-sample basis, even if that means some samples came from the 1-2 inch depth, others came from about 2-3 inches, and yet others come from a depth of 3-4 inches? No. It isn't a beauty contest or something you a trying to win a contest ...

Re: Not all Milogranite created equal?

Based on bag info, this bag should provide 1lb of nitrogen per 1k whereas the standard bags provide .72 per 1k. How much of the nitrogen is slow release? I can't zoom in enough to read it.
