Re: How much N in transition zone? 3 years of KBG in zone 7A

Andy, my thoughts on the milorganite was that because our temps are warmer but the days are still quite short it could still work.. Maybe you're right and I should do it the otherway around, but I don't know if I wan't to miss out on the thickening and growth the early fall Urea provides.. I use FAS...

Re: Summer Dormancy: What's Your Situation?

So many people stress-out on "the 1/3 rule". Unless repetitively broken, the following is my credo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6kgS_AwuH0 LOL. Considering I only spray the side yard and front yard with T-NEX, the back yard is mowed on the same schedule and is a little shadier, its allllways t...

Re: How much N in transition zone? 3 years of KBG in zone 7A

A few questions: 1. Does the grass ever come to a complete growth stoppage? 2. You mentioned that the grass will grow all the way to the end of December, and then green-up in March - what happens to the lawn in January/February? 3. You're saying you feel the current timeframe seems "not enough" - w...

Still green KBG in zone 7A, growth regulated and irrigated 1.5 inches a week.

My front yard is another story, lots of dormancy mixed in with the green tall fescue but it comes back great every year!

How much N in transition zone? 3 years of KBG in zone 7A

Have not been on this forum for a while but hoping to get some input as I have the same problem here every year. This is my third year here doing close to a 70/30 TTF KBG Blend. My current lawn was seeded fall 2018 - 30% Award Kentucky bluegrass 30% Bewitched Kentucky bluegrass 40% Blue Note Kentuck...

Re: Math for weight conversion?

Formulation Efficacy aside, You can't even really compare application rates between competing products with different AI percentages. A lot of products will have a line that explains that if you use a certain rate it will apply a certain weight of active ingredient per certain area. Thats what you h...

KBG in zone 7a...
Deep and Infrequent worked but NOT for July, August, September.
Every other day was basically a necessity, for me, but I didn't do it for very long, and then I'd still do a deep soak weekly..

Re: Weed Control DIDN'T kill this weed... what is it?

For Bermuda Supression without KBG I go pretty aggressive and use Fusilade II, Tenacity, and Triclopyr. 1.4 oz Fusilade II .5tsp Tenacity, .667 oz triclopyr(I'm using turflon ester by Monterey and i forget the percentage AI)/1000 sq ft. Because of the tenacity limit you can really only do this maybe...

9 days is nothing when you're dealing with a 14-day germination time. You still have time to see what happens, and whether you need to add more or not. I'd wait at least 5-6 more days. But not too long.
Where do you get a 14 day germination time?
TTTF is like 5-7 days

Re: New to fescue

Third pic is KBG. Typically these blades are the ones we are tempted to pluck for examples and photos because they tend to grow taller than the TTTF blades and droop over slightly at the top. Given that information, when you look at the 2nd picture, most of your blade are taller and drooping over. T...

It's so hot. Lots of my friends overseed didn't take very well even with water every 4 hours. I hate living here. My grass is struggling. Bare spots. Gonna have to move north. Re: Wrong cultivars sent, what would you do?

I don't think you'll notice, just roll with it. Some of the cultivars in the "new" seed are better in my opinion, although you really cant beat ls1200. I wish I'd done a monostand of ls1200 because it even makes my KBG look "meh". Also regarding it being too late for KBG... If it were ONLY KBG yes, ...

Re: Mower with Striper built in before rear wheels?

Well the msrp is 1800 and a California trimmer is half that. In the Uk and EU Honda releases what is basically a gxv190 mower with a rear roller instead of 2 rear wheels. The honda's are already between 600-900 bucks and I can't imagine it would cost that much more to produce one with a roller.. I'...

Anybody running a rotary with a rear roller yet?
I gave up on the idea.. so hard to find a good one in the US.
Seems really nice for mowing around garden beds since there wont be a rear wheel to go into the ground

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens

For giggles I put seed down in my front yard even though I don't really need it, just sprinkled some here and there on some minor bare spots
I've been applying 1lb/k of Urea weekly and I also dropped 2lb/k of TSP last week and the seedlings are still just trucking a long.

I'm naughty and I don't adhere to the weed control pyramid. I really don't like 2,4 d and I'm not sure why, something I read in a college hort class turned me off it but I don't remember what the info was. My own pyramid of weed control is more like a ladder. For grassy weeds I use Fusilade II For c...

I typically only see a little rust in the early spring.
My climate is so different from yours though so I can't say for sure!
You're probably about due for some fertilizer and that oughta knock it out of the park, right?
