Re: How 'bout it Transition zone?
I did a fall high nitrogen regime on my tttf/bluegrass mix. My lawn was mostly dark green the first week in February. There were some small areas that were a bit lighter, but overall it was very green. Compared to my neighbors yards it was night and day. Then the weather warmed up and all the tttf l...

Re: Snowmanaxp 2017 soil sample
The Phosphorus still isn't finished. Either apply Triple Superphosphate (TSP) at 2 lbs/K monthly or a Starter Fertilizer. With the TSP you'll need a Nitrogen source, but it seems you have that down. I guess I took the above as saying I NEEDED to apply with nitrogen at the same time. I understand un...

Re: Snowmanaxp 2017 soil sample
Wow, so making my lawn even more fantastic is somewhat complicated 🤣 I did some googling to try and better understand how TSP is used. I did not find anything specifying that TSP needs to be applied with nitrogen fertilizer. Based in Andy's math class😀 above, if I use soybean meal, I would apply an ...

Re: Snowmanaxp 2017 soil sample
When it is mentioned that I need to apply Triple Superphosphate with fertilizer, can I use organics such as soybean meal or milorganite?
Thanks

Snowmanaxp 2017 soil sample
I will start by saying I don't know what caused the discrepancy in OM. I haven't done anything that should cause it, other than my sampling technique. 2017 report: https://s26.postimg.cc/ow4lk2rg5/Snowmanaxp-_Soil_Sample-2017.jpg 2013 report thread: https://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=...

Re: High nitrogen regime with drought stressed lawn.
I went and looked at some pictures from this spring. And I would say it was probably 90+% of the lawn was back to normal by April 4th. Good thing I take lots of pictures  I'm positive it's not disease or grubs. There is a definitive separation in lawn quality where it gets a little shade. The ...

High nitrogen regime with drought stressed lawn.
Part of my lawn has been damaged due to drought and heat. Some parts are mostly kbg, others are a mix of tttf and kbg. Each year it recovers by late spring the following year. My normal fertilizer regime has been 1 to 2 lbs/k nitrogen from soybean meal May through August. Then 1 lb/k synthetic time ...

Re: Finding CM/SBM etc near Apex/Cary/Raleigh NC?
I go to Chatham farm and home in Pittsboro. They are very friendly. I always call first for prices. They are now only advertising on their website their mixed organic fertilizer. But they definitely have cotton seed meal and soybean meal in 50lb bags. I've never asked about corn gluten meal, so I ca...

After applying fast acting lime, when can I take a soil sample.
Title says it all
After applying fast acting lime, do I have to wait a certain amount of time before I take a soil sample?

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Got my blade sharpened this morning on the way to work, and used it to mow this evening. I also did the edging. The yard is really green in most places and is filling in some of the less severely damaged areas. I'm probably going to have to take some plugs from part of my yard to help out the badly ...

Re: Clueless in NC
Welcome to the great state of North Carolina. How far west in the triad are you? I live outside Raleigh and have a kbg/tall fescue lawn. An excellent source of turf grass information you can get from www.turffiles.com. It's part of the NC State turf grass program and has lots of information relevant...

#2 looks like henbit to me
#3 looks like chickweed
#1 does not look like a sedge, this is too early in the season for it in my experience. I can't really say what it is though.

Sprinkler height, 4 or 6 inches
I currently have Hunter pgp rotors in part of my lawn, they are 6 inch pop ups. I want to add some Hunter MP rotators to another section of my lawn. They sell the spray bodies in both 4 inch and 6 inch pop ups. Most people seem to use the 4 inch version. I cut my lawn at 4 inches most of the summer ...

Re: Spring Poa & Tenacity
I want to warn you my plan was aggressive and I did not follow the max yearly dosing of tenacity. And it still took several years to get it to where I don't see any unless I stumble upon a stray plant. (I found one yesterday) With that out of the way here is what I did. I did not do any blanket spra...
