Re: Prodiamine (Barricade) vs. Dithiopyr (Dimension)
I researched the topic a couple years ago before buying a pre-emergent and chose to go with Prodiamine. Been using that since. I think the cons you listed for Prodiamine are not necessarily true: Doesn't cover as many broadleaf weeds year round - as far as I can tell it block pretty much anything fr...

Re: Already Seeing Fungus on Grass Blades
Same here, noticed fungus yesterday while mowing(looks like grey spot) and hit it with propiconazole. When it comes to fungus I've learned to hit fast and hard, it spreads like wildfire. If it doesn't go away in a couple of weeks going to pull out the big guns, still have half a bottle of azoxystrob...

Re: Too early for Dimension in Northern VA?
Dimension is safe to apply now on a fall seeded lawn. Forsythia is in bloom in NC, so time to get pre-emergent down. I normally apply March 1st, but this has been a very warm "winter".

I simply apply prodiamine right before a rain. Last time it started raining while I was about half way through spraying. Worked great.

Re: Summer Patch Survival Thread...
Thanks - I didn't positively identify any SP last year, but I am trying to prevent it on new blueberry kbg. I DID positively identify a little brown spot and lots of fairy ring in the front yard. So, I do have root-born fungi. My plan is mostly focused on fairy ring , but I think it will also help ...

Re: How 'bout it Transition zone?
anyone have any thoughts on those pics and best thing to do at this point? I'll second bernstem's assessment, it looks dormant(or dead). Could very well be a water issue, our winter has been very mild towards non-existent this year so fescue definitely should have stayed green. I've been mowing eve...

Florel
Anyone use Florel instead of Proxy? A 2.5 gallon jug of Proxy would last me about 100 years at the recommended rate in conjunction with Primo. I'm assuming I can just multiply by 5.5 with Florel?

Re: What are your 2017 goals?
My goal for the year is to have at least 80% of the grass survive through fall and not have to seed. I'm stuck in the perpetual cycle of the grass that never makes it through the summer because it's immature and always having immature less than a year old grass because it can't make it through the s...

Re: How 'bout it Transition zone?
You can always use foliar iron and N to boost color, you can safely do 3oz/K of ferrous sulfate heptahydrate + 2.4oz of ammonium sulfate per app with fescue. It should last a long time with little to no top growth. I'm actually thinking it's more a sign of the whole grass not being happy, and needi...

Re: What could they being spraying?
My guess is they are applying prodiamine. It does not leach and it won't start to break down until it warms up and bacteria gets going, so there's no harm in spraying it early. It's less than ideal, but when you have a few hundred customers you have to start now if you're going to get them all done ...

Re: fixing wheel tracks
Typically the mower produces plenty of suction to lift the grass. Check that you don't have the blade on backwards and that it's well sharpened. There may be "high lift" blades available for your mower from Honda.

Re: Shade tolerant KBG cultivar(s) for spring overseed of TTTF in the extra-humid transition zone?
The 2015 Barvette Crop wasn't the best and the percentage needed to be reduced. Crop 16 was far better and the percentage was bumped back up to 35%. Likely will be tough to find by the summer. If your looking for Turf Blue HGT, even for a late summer planting, buy it now and set it aside. In genera...

Could use a closer picture, but based on your location, season and what I see in the picture it's probably Poa Annua. A close-up would help confirm.

Re: Shade tolerant KBG cultivar(s) for spring overseed of TTTF in the extra-humid transition zone?
Barvette HGT is typically 35% of their Turf Blue HGT blend I forgot to mention - the HGT mix from 2015 is 35% Barvette. The 2016 mix (this fall's seed) is 25% Barvette. I initially seeded with a bag from the 2015 batch and had to follow up with more, which ended up being from the 2016 batch and I n...

Re: Shade tolerant KBG cultivar(s) for spring overseed of TTTF in the extra-humid transition zone?
I'm going to deviate a bit from the commonly recommended cultivars. I spent quite a bit of time this summer researching KBG cultivars for the transition zone. Summer Patch resistance is the main concern, but of course it has to look nice too. I settled on Barvette HGT(part of Turf Blue HGT) ... So ...

Re: How 'bout it Transition zone?
I had to mow today, the bluegrass is chugging along. Most of what I cut is new growth, either tillers or daughter plants via rhizomes, hard to determine. The fescue is not growing at all, seems bluegrass is better adapted to growing in cooler weather. I applied another pound of N to the area today s...

Can you post some pictures of your yard? I think it would be useful to get an idea of what you're dealing with. Also, what is your square footage? What is your irrigation situation, will you be watering through summer? What about at seeding time, how will you keep the seed moist ? Is the area shaded...
