Re: Good time for Triangle approach?
Getting good seed germination coverage is obviously critical to a reno and solves or makes easier many of the problems faced with weeds going forward. With TTTF you have the great advantage of a very short germination time. You can often see where you have thin spots and reseed those areas again, an...

Re: Grass recommendation for Cinn. OH
I don’t know how he has maintained his lawn other than his stated “failures” in his very sunny area and his statement that the shaded area is fine. I don’t think he is into lawn care in a big way. He is in OH I am in NC so I don’t know what his conditions were really like either. He is my boss so I ...

Re: Grass recommendation for Cinn. OH
That is what I thought also, lack of irrigation. I think he has it in his mind that after 2-3 failures with TTTF in that area he wants to try something else. That still doesn't address the irrigation need, especially the 1st year with an area that gets full sun. But I thought I would get another rec...

Grass recommendation for Cinn. OH
I have someone who is about to plant grass in the next couple of days. He bought a bag of Kentucky 31 and was about to seed with it and I told him to pause and look at other options. He is asking what variety recommend for Cinn. OH. I have no experience with growing grass in this location so I thoug...

I LOVE those things! Oh....wait......sorry....I thought we were talking about "chitlins"......I'm from the South.....sorry. LOL Chitlins. That is exactly what I thought when I first saw this thread. Throwing them out on the lawn is about what they are good for. :) Talk about a bad smelling lawn!

Mild Winter
I couldn’t have asked for a better winter regarding plantings I did in 2011. In 2011 I replaced a lot of my foundation shrubs and planted a large ornamental grass/perennial planting in my back yard. The mild winter seems to have been great for this. My shrubs look great and growing well. Nearly all ...

I alternated grain and milorganite each month through spring and summer last year but I am changing this year. I did a winterizer app this year and now plan to only apply grains some this spring and no milorganite. I have applied cracked corn and alfalfa pellets so far and plan on a few more then no...

Wow, UNC has the injury bug this year. Best returning 3-point shooter tore ACL before the 1st game this year. Starting 2 guard tore ACL in January. Henson sprained wrist right before NCAA tournament and has to play with a brace and heavy wrap on wrist. Starting Point guard just fractured his wrist a...

Re: Lawn in turbo mode
My grass is growing a lot now also. It finally got dry enough that I could mow a couple of days ago and will again tomorrow. Sprayed for chickweed this week and put down cracked corn today. I have been green all winter. I winterized this past winter for the first time and I believe I am reaping the ...

Look at some Ornamental grasses to mix in there. Varigated Pennisetum alopecuroides PennStripe and/or Panicum virgatum 'Cheyenne Sky' for color would look good against the green back drop of the trees.

If you are planning a fall overseed, make sure you reserve enough Tenacity for the seeding since you won't be able to drop a pre-emergent in August to combat the fall Poa germination. Also, watch the spring pre-emergent dosing carefully. Barricade at high doses can affect fall germination rates. I ...

I am planning to do about what you are Bernstem. My major emphasis this year will be fungal control since getting hit bad last year with brown patch. That was a bummer. :( I also am concerned about the warm winter and also how wet my yard has constantly been this winter. I have a 2 year old reno are...

I have a two year old reno area and a new reno area from last Sept. My soil has been wet nearly all winter and is very wet now. I applied a winterizer the first week in Jan2012 to both areas. My two year old area needed mowing really bad so today I mowed (bagged) as high as I could the sections that...

With regards to Kenmore, that name is just a marketing brand name. I know others can be to some extent but Kenmore really is. The only way to know who made the Kenmore appliance is by looking at the appliance's identification tag. http://www.appliance411.com/purchase/sears.shtml
