Re: I have drank the coolaid
Looks like Tif to me. Don't worry about brand name, just look for the active ingredient Quinclorac. I know that Ortho Weed b Gone with crabgrass control will do the job.

Re: I have drank the coolaid
I would guess something like Tifway 419 if the builder put it in but without a picture, it's impossible to tell. Do the tuna can test or get a rain gauge from your local nursery or hardware store and see how much water you are putting down when watering. It sounds like you are not watering deeply at...

Re: I have drank the coolaid
My advice is to get a soil test before you start throwing any fertilizer down. Without it, you are blindly putting chemicals out that you may either not need or not putting enough of what you actually do need. Don't forget the micro-nutrients. Following your 'plan', you will be putting down a pretty...

Re: Problems with St. Augustine Grass - Brown spot/Large patch?
Man, I gotta concur with Green...that doesn't look like any kind of St Augustine I've ever seen. Do you have dogs or animals that may pee in that area? Looks like that or an accidental chemical/fertilizer spill of some kind...

Re: Best Fill for Gaps in Bermuda Sod
Stay away from the Scotts lawn soil, in my opinion. It is expensive and you will get a nice big bag of mostly sticks, rocks, and pieces of plastic. I've found through experience that most of the top soils you get at big box places contain a lot of weed seeds and creates more problems than solutions....

Re: Uggggg - Weeds!
The thinner and woody looking stems indicate to me that it is spurge. Purslane usually has thicker and more of a reddish stem than the one's in the picture. The leaves on purslane are also broader and thicker, in my opinion. In any event as stated above, almost any chemical will take those two weeds...

Looks like spurge to me. How about giving it a nice drink of 2-4-d?

Re: Lawn renovation Yukon Bermuda
I'm sure someone with more experience than I will chime in but if it were myself, I would wait another 1-2 weeks for new growth. If it comes, hit it with a second application of Roundup. If very little or nothing is appearing, rake, topsoil, and seed away. Nothing beats good prep.
Nice job so far!

I wonder if a few weeks is long enough between the glyphosate kill and seeding?

Re: Did I already goof this up?
Great stuff and information guys, thanks! I'm continuing the light raking of the the lawn before I cut every 3 days and am also bagging the clippings. When I have a little time, I've gone out and picked out some of the brown stubble and stems by hand so that has gotten slightly better. Ideally, I wa...

Re: Did I already goof this up?
Yes, this is definitely lower than I was mowing last year. I ended up at 3 inches by the end of the season and it was the first year I had the yard. It came leaps and bounds but never really popped and I'm probably just impatient because I see how it was last year. Do you think I should stick with 1...

Re: Did I already goof this up?
I think your grass just needs more time to completely green up and fill in. I deal with this every spring where some parts look great and others appear to still be brown and dormant. Last year I went nuts with a dethatching rake and had bare soil in my front. I left my back alone and it all looked ...

Did I already goof this up?
Hello everyone, I'm having an issue with my grass where I don't think I scalped it low enough and now I've got dead roots and stubble all over the place, underneath the green parts (and growing off of it). The first two pictures were taken today and the third picture was taken on March 2nd when I sc...

Mower limitations?
Hopefully I am posting this in the correct forum. My trusty google investigation has brought me close to answers but not quite. I'm currently mowing with a 80's Snapper 21" walk behind with a 4HP Wisconsin Robin engine. I rotate between two standard blades and sharpen them every month during the gro...

Pre-E Schedule in Phoenix
Hi everyone, I'm looking for advice on when to apply my Prodiamine here in Phoenix, AZ. I applied it with a pump sprayer for the first time ever on February 15th at 1/3rd the maximum yearly rate and think I missed the window. There are about 5 different types of weeds in my 2,200 sq ft lawn that I'v...

I am still getting a "you do not have permission to access this page" error message so I may not be able to upload pictures but will keep trying. Any help from what I've described would be great. Thanks.

First year citrus tree's
Hi everyone, This is my first time with growing citrus trees, here in Arizona and I'm looking for any advice on what to do, what to avoid, and good general practices to take care of these things. All of the trees were 5 gallon tress from a local nursery, except for the 15 gallon Rio Red Grapefruit, ...

Re: Mid-season Scalp?
Something I just thought about that I hope I didn't screw up. I mowed the lawn (basically to just pick up leaves), 3 days after I applied prodiamine. I watered it in with about .5" of irrigation on the same day it was laid down. Would the mowing affect the pre-e barrier or has soil contact already b...
