Re: Value for Used Zero Turn

This is listed with a 19HP Kawasaki engine and from what I’ve seen that was probably around 2007-2008. My biggest concern would be even though it’s low hours was the engine oil ever left unserviced too long. A new engine would be the big ticket item.

Value for Used Zero Turn

I found a deal I’m looking at for a Scag Freedom Z with a 48” deck and 19HP Kawasaki with 260 hours. It’s been residentially used, seller is the second owner and doesn’t know what year it is but thinks about 10 years old. It looks like it’s been stored outside for a bit. Looking around at other simi...

Re: First Large Lawn

Thanks Andy, that’s definitely some of the guidance I’m looking for. I definitely want an efficient setup, storage, cost and use. I’m just trying to get a feel for what setups people like for around that sized lawn. I drove a lawn tractor once on a small lawn with lots of small trees and corners to ...

Re: First Large Lawn

I think I may hire a lawn crew for a few weeks and see what they’re using to help figure out what size may be appropriate for me, then do more research on what models offer a price point/transmission/engine quality that might be a good match.

Re: First Large Lawn

That’s a good point, I need to think about spreading and fertilizer. I’m not a full lawn care nut, I don’t love working on my lawn but I don’t mind it so I just try to get it done pretty quick, mow once a week during high growth. I throw down prodiamine twice a year, in Bermuda I’ll throw a lot nitr...

First Large Lawn

I’m buying a house with my first large lawn. It’s a 1 acre lot, probably around 30-35k sq ft of Bermuda. I know sizing is a personal choice but I’m looking for some advice to help guide me. I don’t want to buy my equipment and then want to upgrade later but I’m also hoping not to go crazy with the b...

Re: Fort Worth Soil Test - Renovation

Thanks, I’m not looking for organic options, I was Judy using it because Andy recommended it based on my soul results. It would be great to use another cheaper option if a conventional would get the job done. I just wanted to see what balance I should get for my yard and if I need to add anything el...

Re: Fort Worth Soil Test - Renovation

Much of Texas has been blessed with a buildup of at least 1,000 feet of seashells that have morphed into limestone over the eons. As Andy said, there is no practical way to adjust that away. What can happen is the soil microbes can acidify the soil in their immediate area. One of the exudates from ...

Red Oak Borers

I try not to do this, but I'm posting a question before researching much because we had some limb damage and the Arborist came out and while they're out they wanted to do a treatment on the tree for $250 (the guys are doing the work the same day). The tree definiteoh has a problem, but they're solut...

Thanks. My page hadn't reloaded properly and it looked like my last post hadn't gone through and it was still typed in. I saw it right after I posted but couldn't modify it. Thanks for the reference.

Re: Fort Worth Soil Test - Renovation

Thanks I have one more question. I have live oaks through my lawn. Is the Cooper fine for the trees at the recommended application rate or should I try to give them a little buffer? The crystals are quite large, maybe half the size of a corn kernel. With the relatively low concentration over the law...

Oh yeah and one more question. I have huge live oaks through my lawn. Is the Cooper fine for the trees at the recommended application rate or should I try to give them a little buffer?

Re: Fort Worth Soil Test - Renovation

This lawn is Saint Augustine. Do I still give it as many applications of Milorganite at 1#/k N? I also have a lot of shade, which I've read should decrease your application rate. Then again Milorganite shouldn't burn it so it may be fine.

Thanks a lot for your help. I really appreciate it.

Re: Fort Worth Soil Test - Renovation

Awesome, thanks a lot. I already have a stash of Milo for the year so I'm good to go there. Is there anything I should/can do about the alkalinity?

Fence Supplier in Fort Worth or Dallas?

Does anyone happen to know a good fence supply company in DFW or how to find good fence supply companies? I'm planning to install my own cedar fence but I am having a hard time just finding fence supplies as opposed to a contractor. I'm also trying to decide between Pre stained and staining the fenc...

Fort Worth Soil Test - Renovation

I bought a new house this year and the yard has been ignored for years. The yard is about 7,000 sq ft and I got samples from the front and the back yard to see if I need to treat them differently. I I have a few challenges to overcome. First, we have large oak trees through the yard, I'm not going t...

Re: Mosquito Pesticide?

It has been a month or so but I am almost positive I was shooting for 1 oz/gal. I gave the wicked box a good soaking and just made sure I had even coverage of the brick on my patio. When I went to the lawn I added some extra and was probably at 1.5 oz per gallon. I have a 7,500 sq ft lawn and I beli...

Mosquito Pesticide?

This is my first year using pesticides and I read that Bifen was a good general pest control so I picked up a bottle of Bifen I/T concentrate. Mosquitoes are the biggest nuisance for me and they were listed. But I didn't see any difference after 2 applications of Bifen. I had a wicker box they swarm...

Re: Sprayer Wand

It looks like the tip recommendation is for a general purpose small droplet/even coverage for applying herbicides etc to the grass? For insecticide application (Bifen) I was thinking something like a turbo jet nozzle that has larger droplets, less drift etc would be preferable since it probably isn'...
