Re: St Augustine grass disease?
Could be either bugs or fungus. How much water or rain have you had? To much water will bring on the fungus. Any brown spots on the leaves (an indication of fungus)? Have you done the soapy water test in the evening to check for bugs? It doesn't look like cinch bugs. They'll usually take out a small...

Re: What do You plant in Winter?
My wife and I usually plant our full vegetable garden. Down here we can't carry the garden through the summer months. To hot and humid. Come September we start the prep work. Once planted we might have to cover the tender stuff a few times due to frost, but winter is our big production time.

Re: Anybody here have bees?
Interesting about all the insects trying to invade the hive. The u of m has a bee lab and offer a class this fall, the wife and I will probably attend it so we can have a better understanding of what to do. :good: We've attended 3 classes. Bee keeping 101:life cycle of bees, introduction to the hiv...

Re: Anybody here have bees?
We have 2 hives. Why are you thinking of getting into bees? Eventually make honey for a wine hobby. But Id be happy if I can keep them alive, do you run into much issues with mites? From what I've been reading people fail a lot just from them. We started with 2 hives this past spring (April). June ...

Re: What kind of weed is this??
Crabgrass maybe? Was the Ortho Weed-b-gone just regular or was it the one that says "and Crabgrass control"? The regular WBG really won't touch Crabgrass and most places aren't selling the one with CG control until temps drop to the mid 80's. At least this is what others have said on this site. I've...

Have you priced a triplex? Care and feeding of one these is more than 3x the cost of a single reel walker. Time is another issue. People on this site talk about how long it takes to backlap and tune one reel. It takes a couple of hours to remove, backlap, adjust, adjust again, cleanup the lapping co...

You sit down and start adding up all the $$$$ you've spent in the last 10 years on mowers, backpack sprayers, trimmers, spreaders, misc equipment, milo, fertilizers, premo, chemicals, tests, and time and realize you could have bought and paid for the fine Italian sports car you've dreamed of since a...

I'm NW of Orlando too. Mt. Dora area. I've got 8 acres of Bahia. Looks like you have a host of problems. Picture 1 looks like you have some Nut sedge, Dalisgrass and some crab grass. That's just in the 4 corners of the picture. The 2 light colored seed pods in the center clump of grass is not from B...

Am I the only one on this site that does a full detail on their mowers after use? Blow, wash top to bottom, power wash under the deck or on the cutting reels, wipe down, grease all fittings, spray lube, top off the fuel tanks and a fresh set of sharp blades for the zero turn. Make sure it's all dry ...

Re: Over fertilized on Bermuda Help :(
The backyard picture has a line of brown grass and a green area back by the fence. Did you use a drop spreader? If so, then yes it looks like over fertilizing. Water and wait. You have Bermuda, you can't kill it. When it comes back it'll sure be GREEN!!!

Chinch bugs? From another web site: Symptoms Chinch bugs only attack grass growing in sunny areas. They will not touch shady areas. This is so much the case that you can see the patterns of destruction that precisely align with the sunny spots in a lawn. So be on the lookout for damage in sunny area...

Re: Toro 1600 vs JD 260
Check both of them to see what's their maximum height of cut. Very important! If one only goes to .500" you'll regret buying it. Trust me. You'll spend additional $$ to get the taller brackets to raise the cut above .500" and then have to disassemble the mower to install them. Mine were $90 a set, 3...
