Re: Fertilizer help
Can I hijack this thread for just a moment to ask HLG where he gets his fertilizer? I live in the same area.

Re: Red thread & Leaf spot(?)
If I left it and didn’t put any fungicide on it do you think it would go away on its own once it dried up?

Re: Red thread & Leaf spot(?)
I didn't take pics of the red thread. I definitely know what that looks like! It seems like I battle it every spring. This is what I thought was more of the leaf spot.

Red thread & Leaf spot(?)
Very rainy spring here in central Indiana. I noticed about a week and a half ago I have spots of red thread all over the yard. I put out about .25 lb/K triple 12 fertilizer. Haven't noticed a ton of improvement yet. However, I am starting to see what I think is leaf spot all over the yard. Will that...

Re: Help with plan for fungus
It doesn't seem to be spreading at a rate that is unreasonable - if at all. I have to start paying more attention now that I know what I"m looking at. Is it worth spraying something like propiconazole since we're moving into the hotter and drier part of the summer? If I fed with grains through the s...

Help with plan for fungus
I've had this issue the past year or two if I remember correctly. I believe it is brown patch. Is that correct? Either way, I've got multiple brown spots of something all over my yard. The yard is around 23-25K. We had a very cold spring and a very dry and hot start to our summer. From my soil test ...

Re: Browning in parts of yard after prodiamine
HLG - hopefully this next spell coming through the next few days will help a lot. I dont have the typical IN clay soil and mine seems to dry out quickly. I seem to have a lot of spots that are thinner and browner than others. One step at a time...

Re: Browning in parts of yard after prodiamine
A little embarrassing but I think I figured out what was going on... I watered the browned spots last night and they have started to green up already this a.m. The grass is definitely thinner in those spots that are brown but I am amazed that those areas have dried out so quickly compared to the res...

Browning in parts of yard after prodiamine
I applied around a 1/2 app of prodiamine last week. First time I've used prodiamine and I'm not sure what to expect. I have patches of my yard that have browned out where there seems(?) to have been grass. Right next to it there is lush grass that looks untouched. Is this to be expected? The parts t...

Forsythia bloom in Central IN?
I'm trying to decide if I have time to both overseed and apply a pre-emergent. I've not used a pre-emergent before and I got quite a bit of crabgrass last year. I plan on using Prodiamine 65WDG. I already have seed. If I were able to drop seed soon would I be fairly safe applying pre-emergent too? T...

Re: cmcgill soil test 2017
Thanks! How do you tell it's a medium loam from the numbers? Is there a particular number you are looking for with the micros or is it in relation to the other elements? Tell me more about potassium apps ending in September. Maybe a simple question, but why? What do I need to do with the Boron? Let'...

cmcgill soil test 2017
Okay, so here's my soil test. https://s10.postimg.cc/epwjvg545/Soil_Test.jpg Yard is around 25K sq ft. in Greenwood, IN. Yard seems fairly sandy and it dries out quickly. That being said, I really only water when absolutely necessary. I mulch mow around 3.5 or higher, mulch all the leaves I can, and...

Re: Soil tests for lawn and garden
I might go on and do a soil test this year then. I've only used grains, 1 application of Screamin' Green, and generous amounts of BLKH on the yard so far. I also gave in and started spot spraying dandelions with 2, 4-D Amine.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Is there a better time to get a soil test for your lawn?
How about your garden?

Re: Corn Meal in Indiana
Rural King has the best prices on alfalfa (10/40) and cracked corn (7/50) that I can find. Some places have said they will order things and bring them in so you might check that. I know Wanamaker Feed & Seed will bring it in for a special order. You might check Crossroads Feed Barn also. I'm going d...

Grains in Indy area
Does anyone in the Indy area, particularly the southside, have any recommendations for where to buy grains? I've looked at the local TSC and Rural King. I've also talked to a few of the local feed stores. I didn't know if someone might have a place where the pricing might be a little better. Here's ...

Re: Grass Seed, Grubs, Dandelions, Oh My!
I have also read that dandelions are perennial & prolific(!!!). It takes a little under and hour to mow and we have spent that much time and more pulling dandelions. It's a running joke in my family - I ask my girls if they will help me and they groan - they know it means pulling dandelion heads by ...

Rust only in particular areas
I'm curious as to why I have rust in particular areas where I raked through the dead grass in preparation for seeding. Other parts of the yard where I didn't rake aren't showing rust, just those parts I raked. Anyone know why? No other variables that I can identify like more or less water, sun, fert...

Re: Grass Seed, Grubs, Dandelions, Oh My!
Thanks for the insights. I didn't know if there was something I might be missing. I'm starting to see more and more germination of the grass seed so I'm feeling a little better about that. The spots from the grubs were concerning me too much so I went on and dropped some carbaryl yesterday. I'm gues...
