Re: fungus?
the plot thickens? i checked for grubs and there was no sign. however, i had about 400 tiny little chubby birds just chilling out on the lawn. pecking around. got me thinking maybe its some kind of pest. the only thing i could find on google was sod webworms, but i don't recall seeing any moths. tho...

Re: fungus?
well. i got nervous and i hit everything white with heritage and companion. sooooo... i'll buy some compost and see if my grass will make up with me for being so unkind to it. that aside, should i overseed these areas come fall, or just fertilize heavy and hope for spread? i ask knowing that if the ...

the fringe shot, with the ragged white tip https://s6.postimg.cc/5t3gdscyl/JKSJCCa.jpg a handful pulled from the deadzone, best i could to get some roots, since it shears so easily. i tried to pluck out the topsoil, which is as dark as it was when i bought it. https://s6.postimg.cc/f25mnwlul/Zd_Wupt...

Re: What could this light colored grass be?
poa triv is fairly easy to identify, now that i've learned how to: it's roots are shallow, primarily stolons. if you scratch the soil beneath it, and smell your finger, it should smell like poop. and if you peel back the collar apart, the what remains will have a very easy to see pointed liguile: ht...

fungus?
so as you all know, from my last post, i am having drought stress problems. i believe my attempt to fix them led to the fungus issue i think i have. how i fixed the drought: after double checking the sprinlers: i was not receiving the 1" i had been expecting given the existing runtime. to acheive th...

what are these patches of discolored grass?
https://s6.postimg.cc/z6pg7fuzh/Yrrpe44.jpg problem: i have 3 incongruous patches of grass on my lawn, just like the one pictured above, they suddenly appeared: observations: the patch is much darker green. the blades of that grass appear wispy/straw-like. the blades seem consistent in color, with ...

good point STL. I should have mentioned most around here won't provide that guarantee. I should call Delea and see what they say.
I used free compost from town dump on my Reno last year and I suspect it was the source of my weeds.

small space between fence and trees
there's a small space between fence and trees. i can barely fit back there so the mower def. can't. my question: when it rains the dirt hits the fence. plus it's a hotbed for weeds. i want to plant a grass back there, but i don't want to be manually weedwacking 400 linear feet. is there a grass i ca...

Re: Requesting feedback on tentative reno plan.
you need to scalp when the lawn starts looking dead from the glypho but before the lawn starts to lay down in death. once it starts to lay down it's a [banned word] to cut with the mower. someone else should confirm but i would avoid dethatching, unless you know you have thatch. someone else should ...

Re: Hot Spots
I didn't try the BLSC yet because it seems a bit much. You have to order all these things, mix them and apply. I was looking for something already done that I can apply. sorry, this is not a valid excuse. you should be ashamed of yourself, young man/young lady! you buy the lareth from brambleberry:...

nicely written guide, but the seeding rates seem to contradict this post:

i'm very interested in the outcome, given that i'm planning a mixed reno this fall.

Re: STL 2017 Side Yard Renovation
judging by your plan of action, i'm guessing you already know this, but make sure you fallow the living hell out of the lawn. quack grass is just plain awful. the bigger the dent you can put in it by fallowing from now until august, the better off you'll be.

someone is is better suited to handle this than i. but... since i'm here already... send a sample out to rutgers. if it's really a fungus, and positive id is crucial to the proper plan of action. everyone that i've read about succesfully dealing with a fungal issue goes through rutgers for positive ...

Re: Drought?? I think I know the answer but
HLG can speak for the weather there. But I know TTTF is very finicky with watering. It don't know if it'll go dormant due to drought like kbg, I think it usually just dies. Keep watering deep and infrequently. Maybe rake up the dead stuff and reseed? TTTF takes pretty quick. You're right up against ...
