Re: Grass Seed
I just worked with a company in the buffalo area and I live on Long Island as well. They had helped me with my kbg mix Reno a few years ago and helped me pick seed for my current hellstrip Reno. Got back to me within hours and had 10 lbs of tttf in 48 hours. Google grass seed Buffalo NY and they sho...

Re: Zoysia for Hellstrip
Thanks...I will try one more season with my kbg there. Extra food and water. It is only 3 or 4 seasons since the Reno and it had real problems with spurge when it was getting established. Push a few plugs there as well then hope for the best.

Re: Zoysia for Hellstrip
Thanks...Someone told me it can grow under the sidewalk into the main lawn. That would be a definite deal breaker if someone can confirm this.
Figured a concrete lagoon would keep spreading in check.

Zoysia for Hellstrip
I know I know this is the cool season grass forum. But I am growing grass on the South Shore of Long Island in NY. The forum info helped me do complete reno using KBG a few years back. It has been great and is only getting better. I am still having a tough time with density in the hell strip though....

I use the Home Depot order online and pick up instore. By me they have 49 bags in valley stream and 24 in Freeport. I would confirm with a phone call after you get their confirmation email to be sure since you would have to travel. I have done this for up to 5 bags without a problem. I agree it is g...

Skydrop adding a subscription fee
Just got an email from skydrop that they will be charging for their cloud service starting next week. 1.99 a month. As a skydrop user for many years this is now pushing me to go with another company. It does not seem like a lot and I have run it for many years. I never used the smart water feature. ...

Re: Overseeding KBG
The reason I did a full Reno with a mix of elite KBG was to get off the hamster wheel of aerate thatch reseed every Fall because of fungus and summer stress. This is the start of my 3rd season. Been using the aggressive fall regimen with a nod to the Philes program the rest of the season. My bothers...

Mulched leaves and saw no more growth. Dropped urea winterizer that will be watered in with 32 degree snow melt water this weekend.

Aggressive plan on 2 year old compact midnight KBG blend south shore of Long Island. Last drop was on 11/6 a week before average frost. Got our hard frost just a few days after. Mowing once a week. I have been "discussing" with my wife why I need to go out and cut when it clearly has not grown and s...

Re: I messed up
I did the same thing in a few spots. The rest of the KBG reno has had an incredible Spring. I pulled some plugs and spaced them out in the dead areas. They are taking even if it looks like the first generation of hairplug procedures.

Re: Who is applying PGR this year?
Put my second PGR and FAS treatment down the other day. Wow! I did it primarily for my first year KBG Reno to help fill in the voids and help prevent stress down the road. I used a 2.5 oz/k dose of FAS the first time and was not overly impressed. I feared the lawn turning grey as mentioned in the ar...

Oo oo that smell...
Or lack thereof...Spread Milo at bag rate (which is one bag in my case) twice this Spring after green up. No smell? I always question if the asparagus I ate was good if I do not smell it later. :D It has been pretty cool on Long island for the most part. Is it an issue of sleepy microbes? When I use...

I am having the same dilemma. Does it matter if granular versus spray when it comes to chance of wash away?

Re: what to do after 2016 fall reno
I am in the same boat... Consensus here (from my reading of the veterans posts) would be to start some KBG pots now and plant them in 6 to 8 weeks where you have some thin spots.

Pots anyone?
Wondering if anyone will be running pots for repair or fill in this Spring. I need to with my new KBG install last fall. Trying to work backwards time wise on when to start them. As a science teacher I have access to a climate control box that I could fill up with pots. So when is the best time to p...

Re: Spring Protocol After Fall Reno
That read and comments clarified things greatly. I will let the grass wake up naturally then feed it light and more often than I though I should.
Thanks.
Thanks.
