Re: Bentgrass/Clover/POA

As a side comment, you mention poa. Somebody else commented in this recently, but poa isn't necessarily all that helpful. There are many gears that are poa, such as poa annua, poa trivialis, poa pratensis. The first two are usually (but not always) considered undesirable grasses. The third is Kentuc...

Re: Who's vaccinated?

I got my first shot around noon on Thursday. About 4:30 Friday afternoon, I got extremely tired, both sleepy and hard to move. I slept for an hour or so and stayed in bed longer. Skipped swimming and biking.

Felt fine today.

Re: Who's vaccinated?

Awesome! And with that, I did just get a call to schedule an appointment for mine--next Tuesday. One city down the line, so a bit of a drive, but no big deal. I have no idea which vaccine I'm getting and don't much care. Although if it's the Johnson and Johnson I'll consider myself unvaccinated unt...

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

I mowed the front and side lawns. Grass wasn't mowing height everywhere, but I'm using a manual reel mower, so I can't let it get away.

I'm doing too many other things in the back, so even if it needs to be mowed, it'll have to wait.

Re: Who's vaccinated?

First shot this afternoon... not looking forward to the side effects. I haven't heard of many people having bad reactions to the first shot unless they had already had covid. I've read that younger people (<55 years old) are more likely to have stronger reactions to the second dose than older peopl...

Re: Who's vaccinated?

Just before two weeks after my first dose, I read that there is strong protection two weeks after the first dose. So I started going back to the pool. I've been getting regular exercise and trying to stay in shape, so I'm better off than I was when I first got back into swimming (6 or 7 years ago, a...

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Spread plastic Easter eggs with candy in them for the annual neighborhood Easter egg hunt. I don't think anybody actual hides them, so there's no hunting involved.

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

I planted three trees. Two bare root (pear and peach) and one tiny live pomegranate tree in about as much soil as one of the sections in an egg carton. The pomegranate tree is about 8" tall and the other two are almost 2 feet tall. I'm not anticipating picking any fruit for a few years. I also sprea...

Re: Finally, It's SPRING !!!!

Got the 500,000 sticks from the trees all picked up? Ha! Sounds like you've seen my lawn! Don't have them all picked up yet, but am starting to spend a little while each afternoon raking a couple thousand square feet. At this rate, we'll have it all raked and ready to go within a week or so! You gu...

Most of the chelated iron you'll see for sale is EDTA chelated iron. That won't do any good at your ph. There's another form (EDDHA) thaat can help. But it's extremely expensive. I've used it in targeted applications to try to help an individual plant, but I wouldn't consider it for a lawn. A foliar...

Re: Soil Test - Garrett - 2021

What I was trying to stress is that you shouldn't necessarily think about what your om % is and how it compares with what's best.

There's no upper bound. Increase your organic content any way you can.

Re: Soil Test - Garrett - 2021

Neither Andy nor morpheus answered your question about a targeted om%. I'm not sure whether that was intentional or not. 2.2% is low. But you're not going to change it quickly. Mulch mow always. If you have trees, mulch now the leaves. If you brew beer, spread your diluent grains in the lawn. If you...

I'm not a warm season grass guy. But I wouldn't aerate and I'd only dethatch if 2 had a thatch layer that was preventing water from getting to the root zone.

I can't help with any of the rest.

Re: Who's vaccinated?

I've already had the malady and haven't seen any reasoning to take the vaccine because I have antibodies. Also it seems the medecine is less invasive and equally effective. You might want to check with your doctor. From what I've read, the vaccines provide more complete and longer lasting protectio...

Re: Who's vaccinated?

Ugh.

Utah seems to be doing a surprisingly good job at administering the vaccine.

My daughter has opened a few tabs that she'll start refreshing on a regular basis (she's supposedly eligible 3/24). As the state mentioned, eligibility doesn't mean availability.

Who's vaccinated?

I got my first shot today.

Drive thorough at a converted convention center. I didn't even have to leave my car. The longest part was sitting in the parking lot for 15 minutes.

Made my appointment for the second shot shortly after I got home.
