I'm pretty sure that if you search for myrtle on this site, you'll find numerous posts by morpheuspa describing his robotic mower (myrtle the turtle).

Re: Weed ID help...thanks

I'm not an expert on weed id, but I think you need to provide more detail to get a good id.

Get a full plant, including roots. Show enough of the leaf to include the ligule.

What you're showing there could easily be kbg with nutrient deficiency.

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Yesterday I spread some spent grains on the lawn. Today, I bought a couple of spreaders. One is a handheld for the humic acid. The other is the push kind because my old one was somewhat unpredictable. What push spreader did you get? I am thinking about upgrading. Right now I have an Earthway 2600A....

As an aside, Walmart sometimes sells Epsom salt in the garden section in larger bags for less money than you'll usually find it, because it's fertilizer grade instead of cosmetic grade.

Re: Electric dethatcher

Before doing anything, do you really have a thatch problem?

Most people who think they have a thatch problem don't.

Why spend money to fix a problem if it doesn't exist?

Re: A new marathon

Things not ever done: good. Probably not needed. Maybe detrimental.

Go to the soils forum and read up on how to send a soil test to Logan labs. Post it and follow the recommendations.

I'm glad you see it as a marathon and not a sprint.

I spread 10-10-10 with boron and mowed today. Yesterday was a brew day, so I spread spent grains.

Re: Fertilizer and boron timing questions

Thanks. I brew 5 gallon batches, so I only cover a small chunk of the lawn each brew day. There's a chance of rain almost every day this week, so I'll get the fertilizer and boron down today

Fertilizer and boron timing questions

I've got a couple of questions that are probably pretty basic. This may be the wrong forum. If so, feel free to move my post. I know milorganite is sold around here, but I haven't found any recently. To be honest, I haven't looked hard, I'll look harder in the fall. Or even later this spring. Is it ...

Re: Electric Edger/Weed Whacker

The one I have is a Black & Decker. I looked, but didn't see a model number on it.

One of my neighbors borrowed it once, then went and bought one.

Re: Electric Edger/Weed Whacker

I've got one that works pretty well, but you might want to get a spare battery. I don't remember if the battery doesn't last long or if I want doing a good job of keeping it charged, but I ended up buying a spare on Amazon.

I've never used either of them, but found a thread where people discussed screamin' green.

Re: Bentgrass/Clover/POA

As a side comment, you mention poa. Somebody else commented in this recently, but poa isn't necessarily all that helpful. There are many gears that are poa, such as poa annua, poa trivialis, poa pratensis. The first two are usually (but not always) considered undesirable grasses. The third is Kentuc...

Re: Who's vaccinated?

I got my first shot around noon on Thursday. About 4:30 Friday afternoon, I got extremely tired, both sleepy and hard to move. I slept for an hour or so and stayed in bed longer. Skipped swimming and biking.

Felt fine today.

Re: Who's vaccinated?

Awesome! And with that, I did just get a call to schedule an appointment for mine--next Tuesday. One city down the line, so a bit of a drive, but no big deal. I have no idea which vaccine I'm getting and don't much care. Although if it's the Johnson and Johnson I'll consider myself unvaccinated unt...

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

I mowed the front and side lawns. Grass wasn't mowing height everywhere, but I'm using a manual reel mower, so I can't let it get away.

I'm doing too many other things in the back, so even if it needs to be mowed, it'll have to wait.

Re: Who's vaccinated?

First shot this afternoon... not looking forward to the side effects. I haven't heard of many people having bad reactions to the first shot unless they had already had covid. I've read that younger people (<55 years old) are more likely to have stronger reactions to the second dose than older peopl...

Re: Who's vaccinated?

Just before two weeks after my first dose, I read that there is strong protection two weeks after the first dose. So I started going back to the pool. I've been getting regular exercise and trying to stay in shape, so I'm better off than I was when I first got back into swimming (6 or 7 years ago, a...
