What disease is this: red thread, ascochyta leaf blight, or something else?
I have widespread interspersed irregular patches of what appears to be bleached, pinched, thin grass blades with some normal grass mixed in. I was convinced that it was red thread but now not so sure. I did feed the lawn thinking it was poor nutrition leading to red thread. I don’t see hyphae or scl...

Re: Kbgfarmer's new lawn establishment:annual ryegrass invasion continues
Here is a pic of my overgrown front lawn full of huge multi-tiller annual ryegrass plants amongst the slower growing bewitched kbg. Some of it appears to be forming lots of stalky seedheads. Am I to believe that this will all be dead soon since it’s expending energy forming seedheads thereby conclud...

Re: Nutrasoft DG Gypsum by Anderson’s
Yeah after looking at application rates again I see that it indeed was the standard stuff. Unfortunately, we don’t have a Lowe’s in the area and I haven’t been able to locate the fast acting stuff at Home Depot, menards, or our local farm and fleet. Guess will just have to go to with the slow stuff.

Nutrasoft DG Gypsum by Anderson’s
Has anyone used this product? https://pndata.andersonsinc.com/Files/Labels/Nutrasoft%20DG_WEB.pdf It’s available at my local farm and fleet for only $4.99 for a 50 LB bag! They also have an equivalent lime product thought I’m not sure why anyone would use it around these parts as soils are alkaline....

Isolated areas of side lawns are the best. Front just got a healthy dose of milo. I’m thinking it was severely nitrogen deficient. It’s starting to green up but still lots of yellowish immature areas https://i.postimg.cc/w317bwCr/0467-DE8-B-E3-BC-462-B-93-CA-B8-BFF80-C296-C.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/...

Re: Triclopyr
Agree with poster above. The ortho products are specifically targeted to homeowners and thus are weaker concentrations and application rates are much lower so as to make sure homeowners don’t cause damage to their lawns and then blame the company or weed killer. Professional products have much less ...

Re: Triclopyr
Spot application mix recommendations are usually no different than the broadcast rates. It's up to you to know how to spot apply at the same coverage rate as your would say 1 gallon per 1000 sq ft. For example, the spot application rate for Tenacity is 1 tsp in 2 gallons applied at 1 gallon per 100...

Re: New Home with a discolored lawn.
I vote for renovation as well. I can tell you that once you get into this lawn care stuff you will never be satisfied with a “needs some work” lawn. You will spend hours and lots of money trying to get it just right and at the end of the process end up renovating any way. Save yourself some time, re...

Re: Help identifying lawn issue
Read up on red thread, looks like that. That’s what I’m thinking as well! I have a bunch of it. Perfect time of the year for it to occur. Cool and moist weather favor it’s development. It tends to occur in areas with low nitrogen. And if it is red thread then the grass isn’t dead. Feed it and it wi...

I have the 60 percent concentration as well. Like TimmyG mentioned you don’t spray it directly on your lawn. Calibrate your sprayer. It’s all about sprayer output per 1000k.

Re: Yellow nutsedge sucks...
Is it me, or does this stuff follow you when you move to a new place? I bought some Prosedge and used half a packet a couple years ago. I think it got rid of the Kyllinga (which had really cool seedheads). I remember spraying some yellow nutsedge as well. I think I saw one sedge plant this past wee...

Re: Horrible cut on my Perennial rye, what's going on here? Please help.
What is the HOC? Is this reel or rotary? Blade definitely is shredding grass. Try re-sharpening. On rotary, blade should sharp, but not be razor sharp. Not sure about reel -- never had one. I believe by HOC he means height of cut. Going back to OP, I’m not sure why you are looking for thatch in a P...

Thanks ken n Nancy! I will look into it! Posting a pic of the best section of bewitched in my lawn. Full sun area with native black dirt full of organic matter! My old no mix lawn at its best never looked like this. It’s a thing of beauty! So thick and uniform. Hopefully the rest of my new lawn will...

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Wife and I pulled a garbage bags full of grassy weeds. Majority being poa annua with some poa bulbosa. I’m looking forward to the heat of summer to roast this garbage grass as well as annual ryegrass. I’m not going to irrigate much at all this year

Re: Kbgfarmer's new lawn establishment
Front lawn areas are starting to scare me. The bluegrass remains stunted and isn’t growing much all the while grassy weeds are growing like crazy. I pulled a bunch of poa annua yesterday. Much more remains. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I’m having to irrigate often to try an establis...

Looks like they are sod farm but you can buy their seed which has some of the cultivars you’re looking for.
