Re: Marinegrunt's 2017 Fall Renovation
I did order and spray some sodium lauryl sulfate but I don't think I have time to make multiple applications before seeding. I really should get seed down soon. A few weeks back I removed a tree so had to shape the yard again. That's where I ran into these hard spots. The slit seeder I have is a bi...

A great lawn will give you a great cut. Try focusing more on the turf quality and see what comes of that.

Re: Aerating, Overseeding and Preemergent
You might want to post some pics of the lawn or areas in question. Since your profile shows KBG as your grass type, you might be better off looking over the fall nitrogen regiment post to encourage your KBG to spread instead of overseeding. https://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15109...

Considering its a July seeding, in a very shady area I think it looks really good so far. Keep up the good work.

Re: Hydroseeded Lawn Advice?
Part of the downside to seeding in spring is that your grass might not ready for these hot summer days, especially if its all sun all day like you say. Either way looks pretty good for only being 6 weeks in a spring seeding.

Re: Planting new grass seed in Spring. Bad idea?
A spring seeding is definitely possible in CT, but most people tend to agree that fall is the preferred time as the seeds will have more time to mature before less than favorable weather shows up. Winter is not nearly as harsh on new grass as a hot dry summer much like we experienced last year.

Re: Ezael's 2016 Front Yard KBG Reno- The Spring After
Glad to hear you're enjoying the never-ending challenge :) Great work so far! Your goal (if you're up to it) should be to make the whole lawn look like this spot... :) https://s2.postimg.cc/3nw0nc5wl/lawn_renawl.jpg I would love to but with a 2 year old and a 6 year old I lack the time and money. Great post, just saw one typo. Recommends 8-10 lbs kbg per 1000. Ment to be fescue I believe, just wanted to help prevent confusion.

Re: Marinegrunt's 2017 Fall Renovation
stirring up a few weed seeds isent the end of the world. Your bound to get a few weeds pop up with new lawn but those will be dealt with later. It's amazing how fast we all forget. In the BT era (Before Tenacity), renovations were big weedpiles that you then fought to build the lawn from. That was ...

Get the bigger rocks out. Smaller ones aren't a big deal, and stirring up a few weed seeds isent the end of the world. Your bound to get a few weeds pop up with new lawn but those will be dealt with later. Don't sweat the small stuff focus on being ready for seed down date and having enough time.
