Re: Newbie with Backpack sprayer
Your tenacity calc is correct but I wouldn't be putting down 8oz/A rate for TTTF. Half that at most. As far as nozzles, I think in terms of color. Yellow seems like a fine mist and might be too small for general duty. Green might be pushing that even more. My recommendation is to use the red nozzles...

Re: How I feel about overseeding now
Just curious, after you overseededed kbg/tttf, how much tttf is in the lawn now -- rough guess %? Is it enough to keep it from looking conspicuous? Also, how do you know any of the overseeded kbg actually established? Unless the area is thin, I am more inclined to believe the existing kbg spread and...

Re: Newbie with Backpack sprayer
Just to start you off, I think 40psi is a good setting with blue 80 degree fan tip nozzles that you can get at Tractor supply store. When you spray, pay attention to the spray pattern of each nozzle and hold the wand where the two sprays just intersects in the middle. Calibrate it by trial and error...

Definitely looks darker than your previous lawn. Is that the cultivars or iron spray (?) or just the effect of leaves having been mulched in?

Extreme is right!
But I once visited a friend living in a pet-friendly apartment. All the greenery surrounding this apartment was full of turds--pretty much every 2" or so. It was both disgusting and shocking to see. Never seen so many turds in my life.

Could be more but only time will tell. It is unbelievable how much ground just one mole will cover though. If you don't see anything new for a few days, chances are, you caught the one and only bugger! Nice job!

Re: Poa Trivia - From now until late Spring
In the spring (or now even) when the Poa triv starts taking off, use the roundup-gloved hand technique to kill it. The blades will be twice as long as the kbg and it should be easy to spot and do. I have not had the dozen or so spots that I treated this past spring come back (from what I can tell) a...

Yeah, I usually run the mower a couple weeks after the lawn stops growing just to mulch the leaves in.

Re: Neighborhood dog owner
Nah - of course you don't chain him up :) I think the problem OP was having was more related to the owner's expectations of where he should run, +1. I am very dog friendly. I usually chuckle when a dog jumps on me or pounces on my heels as I am jogging. I've not had any negative issues with the act...

Another incident
What is with my neighbors??? This time, a lady is walking 3 dogs. She sees me approaching, yet does nothing. One dog is not even leashed. I pass by uneventfully on the sidewalk and then she yells out almost the same line as the other guy, "Hey, why don't you run on the road?!?!" I calmly tell her th...

Why aren't you cutting the grass? Very important part of lawn establishment that you are neglecting. The shorter bladed grass will be fine.

Re: Repellex Mole and Gopher repellent
For voles, you can use any number of mouse traps baited with peanut butter. I'm waiting for it to get a little colder as the peanut butter always seems to get eaten by slugs or other when it is warmer out. Once there is snow cover, there is no stopping the voles. What's your strategy for placement ...

Re: FYI - Late Seeding and Winterkill Risk
I've seen the same thing. KBG you can pretty much sow anytime, fall through winter. Sowing TTTF and PRG late fall is a waste--and also not good to winter seed too early in winter in case you get a warm spell and it starts sprouting. Better to winter seed TTTF and PRG in February.

Re: Repellex Mole and Gopher repellent
Thanks! I'll have to try that next spring. I thought that was only for deer eating plants but it lists "Deer, Rabbits, Moles, Voles, Gophers, Groundhogs, Feral Hogs, Dogs, and Cats"
