Re: GRYD’s 2020 KBG Backyard Renovation

Some updated pictures. I wish I seeded 2 weeks earlier. I really think in New England you can seed the first week of August. My seed went down the last week of August. Grass is having a harder time establishing but it’s coming along. https://i.postimg.cc/HJDypFyg/562510-A6-72-E7-497-D-B8-DE-702-CA7-...

Re: Moss in Renovation

I am now finding a little bit of real moss in my renovation. Can it be treated with something now?
Please advise.

That is likely Cyanobacteria and it has a tendency to show up when there is bare soil and water present (sound like like Reno?).

It tends to disappear as the grass emerges - it doesn't compete well and is a bottom-dweller...
Thanks! I take it I can ignore it.

My question is not a joke. There is an item often reported as moss that isn't even close (but it's green). Please let me know,
Andy,

I think it’s a type of algae and not moss. It’s only on surface of ground. It’s not raised up.

Thanks!

Moss in Renovation

I seem to have some moss growing in an area of my renovation that doesn’t get as much sun this time of year. Is it something I should and could treat at this time?
Thanks.

Looks swee-ee-eet! If one has irrigation, a dry spell is the best thing for a renovation -- no washouts to deal with, and watering can be nicely controlled.

Love the stepping stones in the grass!
Thanks!

Previously washed out area looks good now. I’ve been able to control the watering during this dry spell.

Re: GRYD’s 2020 KBG Backyard Renovation

My apologies for not posting sooner. Seed went down last week of August. Had one washout but it will be fine. I used 40% Mazama and 20% each of Bewitched, Arcadia and Zinfandel. Arcadia and Zinfandel are aggressive. I wanted that. The back gets trashed by the dogs every winter. Also, the area gets s...

Re: GRYD’s 2020 KBG Backyard Renovation

Gryd! Glad to hear that you're doing a renovation! I've always enjoyed reading about your renovations! How much Bewitched do you need? I have some left from our front yard renovation in 2018 and haven't yet pulled the trigger on renovating the last 1500sqft of our lawn that would benefit from renov...

GRYD’s 2020 KBG Backyard Renovation

Hi Guys,

Last year I renovated some sections in back. It wasn’t my best work so now I’m renovating the entire back and side yardS while I still can.

I’m going with a blend of Mazama, Bewitched and Zinfandel. I could use more Bewitched if anyone has a reasonable source.

Re: June 1st: Initial Roll Call for the Renovation Class of 2020

I’m back for one last renovation in my backyard. It’s about 6,000 square feet. I killed it and I’m in the process of scalping it. I’ll start a simple thread for my renovation.

Re: Gryd’s 2019 Mini Renovation

I have a question. Grass seems to be coming in fine but I’m having trouble accurately identifying my seedlings as Kentucky Bluegrass. I only used Bluegrass and I double checked with my hydroseeder and no other grass species was used. Still, when looking at a blade under a magnifying glass it looks a...
