Re: Dual Check Valve - is it that bad?
That is not a backflow prevention device. I would check local code to see what is required. PVB's are pretty common but depending on where the device is installed will dictate what device you should use.

Re: Cutting The Cord on Cable
Hmmmm, this one looks very interesting - Cablevision and CBS are suddenly singing "Kumbaya" and courting the cord-cutters together? It's all legal-beagle, but it will be interesting if this is the breach in the wall that everyone (the cable providers) plays Me-Too behind. Typical of a big change, n...

Re: Cutting The Cord on Cable
I wonder if Discovery will eventually provide a streaming service. I just started using Showtime's streaming service, and I like it.

Re: Cutting The Cord on Cable
I skimmed these posts, so sorry if I repeat, but I cut cable about 3 years ago. I bought 2 roku sticks and an Amazon stick recently (used PS3 and Xbox prior). The Amazon stick has a way better interface. I buy Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix - which comes out to about $24/month. I always buy the MLB Pack...

Re: Cutting The Cord on Cable
I think the cable companies compress everything before sending it down the pipe, this includes local stations. So yeah, check out the quality of your local feed via cable vs local OTA, there may be a difference in PQ. I've heard it's much better OTA on locals. I'll find out tomorrow when I get my a...

Re: Cutting The Cord on Cable
Thanks, that's the one I'm looking at. I could prob get away with the 2 tuner but would rather get the 4 just in case. Do you need to have the hard drive to use the Tablo from the start or only to record? I'd like to try it out first to see how it works before buying a hard drive although I hv an o...

Re: Cutting The Cord on Cable
I just ordered a Tablo 4 tuner. Down side, they are pricey and you need to purchase a usb hard drive They too have subscription fees if you want all the bells and whistles. The fees are as follows $5/mo, $50/yr or $150 for a lifetime subscription. Their site has a lot of info on it. I'll let you kno...

Re: Cutting The Cord on Cable
I started looking last night and think I'm going to pickup a Roku today and signup for Sling TV as between them both they have most of the channels I watch anyway. My only concern with Sling TV is picture quality but from what I read it's supposed to be pretty good. I have Apple TVs which are suppo...

Re: Cutting The Cord on Cable
It seems like most you guys are cutting the cable, but then replacing it with something else that still costs money(amazon, netflix, etc.). Has anyone cut the cable and NOT replaced it with an alternative and just live with what they can pick up OTA? You are correct. By getting rid of CATV and goin...

Re: Streaming
We stream Netflix without buffer @ 15 down. Based on my experience, unless you have multiple family members downloading large files/streaming at the same time, you can save your money and get 25 down. Also in my experience, you can try the cheaper 25 down and upgrade to 50 if you aren't happy. Cabl...

Re: Cutting The Cord on Cable
I thought I'd bring this back to life as I too am looking to cut the CATV cord. I currently pay $141 with discounts for Uverse. My contract is up in August and I will be making changes. Here are the products and services I am looking in to. Obviously I will need an antenna. I have searched and found...

I have 3 Cree screw in bulbs in a dining room fixture and 3 of their recessed fixtures. I've had all 6 for over a year no issues.
