Re: Monarch Waystation

Was hoping you'd see this Morph! I have 4 different kinds of Asclepias out of the gate and should have 12 plants initially - planning on doing some overflow to another section near the main area. All of this is happening up on my dogleg where all my fruit trees are so I'll love all the pollinators! ...

Monarch Waystation

Hoping this is the right place for this. I'm creating a 100sqft monarch way station which consists of milkweed plants, "nectar" plants and annuals. I'm buying these as mostly 3.5" potted but some bare root. The area is a high sun area with rather sandy soil. I'm anticipating that I will dig out some...

Re: Roller?

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t think a traditional roller does much for established grass. Reseeding where you’ve aerated, spread dirt or spliced? Yeah I like it there but I feel you need something with good weight to make a “dent” - pun intended!

Thanks Morph, got it down today - the incoming rain looks manageable so I let it fly.

Too much rain for PreM?

We are looking at 1-2” of rain Wednesday into Thursday….. looks like it’ll rain over a good 15-20 hour period. Doesn’t “look” torrential but who knows Timing wise I need to get my prodiamine down and I just raked up 12 bags of pine cones last night to prep the yard. Is that much rain a problem to wa...

Re: 2024: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today (Cool Season)

I put down a lighter application of rapid lime and did some general debris cleanup. Gonna fire up the tractor so I can get some Kelp Help down and ready for what I think will be an early application of preM

Re: Early treatment for Winter weeds

Thanks morph - I was expecting it to be slower but assumed since they were growing it had to work to an extent. Just saw some clover in my yard, weird winter/spring for sure.

Thank you!

Early treatment for Winter weeds

Hi all, have a neighbor I helped with his lawn who has some green and flowering winter type weeds. Since they are growing and the temps are spring ish - is it ok to treat with an appropriate herbicide?

Doing a cut today and mulching leaves in. Will use this cut to monitor growth in preparation for the final urea drop. Also ripping out the dead mums!

Re: Dropping fert w/o rain

Well right now you’re at the time of year where you don’t want to fertilize, likely past your average first frost date. I’d wait for growth to fully stop and then fertilize.

Filling in sink hole?

I did some tree work before I Reno-d the backyard so this was only a matter of time. Over the past 3 years the hole is sinking more and I’m wondering what the best way is to go after this? What for fill, how aggressive can I go this time of year? I anticipate this will continue for some time until a...

Gosh I wouldn’t think it would affect trees given its mode of action. Hopefully they thrive now that the deed is done!

Put new leaf mulching blades on the tractor and cleared out the clumped up grass on the mower deck. Amazing with wicked sharp blades and good airflow does for the cut. Laid a urea app as well, rain today.

Re: Seed has sprouted - best way to proceed?

Thanks for your thoughts! We are going to pick up some balanced fert today and get down a layer, will mix in some Baystate fert as well (likely to have limited life with cooler temps.) No tenacity makes sense, might do some kelp help though. I’ll plan to hold off on the cut and evaluate how well the...

Seed has sprouted - best way to proceed?

Hi All, Looking to get some sequencing advice and to toss off some ideas on how to handle. Did an overseeding to about 38k (part of which was a new septic system so full seeding there) that I’m now 21 days into. Mother Nature has been really good to us and we have been able to supplement with irriga...

Re: Fall new seeding - Starter Fertilizer and Tenacity

I just helped my neighbor do a considerable overseeding after he has a new septic out in, 40k sqft worth! We used Twin City blue envy seed. No starter fert yet but I will add some soon. Going synthetic for the reasons TT mentioned. We also used tenacity but I’m likely only applying just that one dos...

Kelp Help with Prodiamine?

I’ve read some of the posts here saying not to combine the blsc with prodiamine because it acts like a surfactant but am I able to spray the kelp help mixed in with the prodiamine? Figured I’d try to get the most bang for my effort here if it isn’t going to impact the functionality of the prodiamine...
