Continuing the fall apps. Skipped the first couple due to zero rain for several weeks.
Getting things ready for fall and that horrible season which comes after. :)

Re: 2023: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today (Cool Season)

Basically been doing nothing for the last month except watering the lawn and mowing every 1.5 to 2 weeks. We are in severe drought conditions and it doesn't look good for rain in the next month forecast. .18" of rain in June.. the majority of lawns around me are already crispy and things are looking...

Re: What's with Milo pricing this year (at least near me)?

I can get it from a local store for $13 normal price, on sale at $10. Didn't realize the store had milo until this year. I've been buying alternatives from Farm & Fleet and Menards.

Re: Zone Balancine via Cup Test

I would check that the heads are covering the entire area that you want, and would check what kind/size nozzles you have on each head. Getting 1.5" in the center and only .3" on the edge is a bit concerning... you might need to change the area of each head, nozzle size, etc.. to see if that helps. M...

Re: Pennsylvania based bio-solid fertilizer? (milo alternative)

Have a truevalue or other hardware store around? Milo is usually cheaper at those stores.
SiteOne has different organic products. Each store stocks different things though.

Re: Grub alternative

As stated, Merit alternative. So yes, imidacloprid.
I can still get Merit where I'm at, as well Bandit, GrubEx, etc..

Just seems to be really strange that the price is so out of norm compared to anything else I can get.

Grub alternative

Howdy all, If you happen to have a Menards near you, they have their own Grub alternative called Menards Premium Grub Control. Happens to be on sale, $8.98 for a 15lb bag. Label states 2.87lbs for grubs, up to 3.80lbs/1,000 for mole crickets. Looks like a Merit alternative. Has anyone tried this? I'...

Few organic questions

Having used milo/equivalent for several years, I'm curious about the different organic feedings available. Having found a source last year that has pretty much anything organic I want... If I'm looking for a corn organic, what would be the best to use with a spreader? Cracked, gluten meal, distiller...

Re: Riverpilot 2023 Soil Test

lol... thank you very much Morph. I still have potassium leftover from last year so will get it down. Copper sulfate, check. Organic matter: I'm down to 2 trees in my yard. I do ask my neighbor for his leaves since he just rakes them up and takes them to the city compost.. I'll see if he wants to sa...

Riverpilot 2023 Soil Test

Thank you Andy, Morph, and the rest of the crew for all your help. Very appreciative with the great work you all do. 1) Lawn is approximately 4,000sq foot. Front is approximately 1,200sq ft, side is approximately 1,000sq ft. Back around 1,800sq ft. 2) Northern Mix lawn. I overseeded KBG several year...

Sent off soil samples to Logan Labs. Purchased a new electric pruner.
Picked up sticks that came in from a strong wind, and preparing for a late season snow.

I would check your local Site-One. Just a quick look and I see prodiamine in stock. I'm sure they can tell you what else they have and their recommendations.

With the snow melting/melted, picking up any sticks, etc.. that happened to find my lawn in the past several months.
Looking for any damage of the lawn, as well where it looks like I'm going to have even more problems/pressure from the weeds and tall fescue invading from the neighbors on 3 sides.

Re: Urea source

Just called my SiteOne, they have now decided they are no longer going to carry 46-0-0. Only a couple of lawn companies buy it anymore with the prices sky high, so it's not worth their time to bring it in. Considering they had a big order just a month ago, very interesting. My area politicians turne...

Re: Urea source

Went and picked up a bag today. $31 with tax. Even though it's further away than SiteOne, this store is primarily highway for me. 10 minutes there and 10 minutes back.

The bag is marked Grainco FS, which is based out of Ottawa, IL.

Re: Urea source

Yep, the price is definitely up this year. I have enough left over where I could just apply to my front and side yards, skip the back which would allow me enough for this year.... but, I'm going with the new source and feed grade urea this year. I'm not paying $50+ for a bag of urea. I haven't made ...

Re: Neighbors weed infestation

Bummer. Can you report his weeds to the HOA? A privacy screen would be nice. Please don’t use Ligustrums or other invasives. They’re rampant in my neighborhood. I had to rip out about 20 at my old house that the previous owners had let the birds plant! Wouldn't do any good. 3/4 of the lawns are wee...
