Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2020 Version

Thanks Morph, that sums it quite well. Slowed but not done yet. Last year my final mow was December 2nd.

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 81

Mowing has slowed as we dip further into fall. Today was 61 degrees, so I got out to enjoy the afternoon and trim up the grass. Most of the leaves are off the trees, so anything on the ground simply gets mulched up. I’m pleased with how things turned out, and I’m looking forward to the Spring. https...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Experiment on the Riding Mower

So this afternoon I was out mulching leaves on my riding mower. I had some time to spare and thought what it would look like if I raised the blade up just to take a whisker off of what I mowed Sunday. Typically I have been keeping the riding mower off of the reno until the following spring. This one...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2020 Version

Unseasonably warm weather has been around most of this week and will be for the next couple of days. The high has been mid to upper 70s. No rain. Today I took out a sprinkler and ran water all afternoon. Growth has slowed but I have been mowing to keep leaves off and take off at or less than 1/3 eac...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 61 Aerial Picture

Yesterday was Day 61. It was a picture perfect fall day. I got the drone out and snapped the pic below before sunset. I meant to get more on the ground but ran out of time. I did spray another round of BLSC after I mowed yesterday. It is extremely windy today. We had a good frost yesterday morning. ...

Re: This is why you don't use straw for a reno

Andy is spot on (no surprise 😀). Straw and hay are different. I’ve used straw on my two largest renos. I’ll admit, straw will introduce weeds...but in my experiences if you use Tenacity at seed down and follow good practices...by the following fall there’s limited if any weed presence.

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2020 Version Day 57 Mow

Today I got out and mowed. With all the equipment gone I’m able to mow into the older section and merge it all into one large section. https://i.postimg.cc/MfcHZTny/495-A1-AB0-81-CE-4417-9-FFB-6-A82-E9-A2-E634.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/xkYXGnZ2/D7-E886-A8-82-AB-480-F-91-FC-3-EF567-D6626-D.jpg

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 55 Equipment Cleared

Today is Day 55. We’ve gotten on and off rain all week. I haven’t watered the reno with my own well system for weeks. I was leaving everything out just in case we got a week of high temps and no rain. (Last year we had 90s in October). Today I went out and rolled up all the hoses, collected all of t...

Re: Ken-n-Nancy's 2020 "Driveway Side" Lawn Renovation

Thanks! That’s kind of what I figured. The first few mows I bagged everything. Now that it’s a little bit established I’ve been mulching. (Plus it saves me from stopping to dump those bags!)

I didn’t mean to hijack your thread...I apologize. Thank you again for your thoughts!

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - BLSC and Mow

It is Day 48 and I had identified some spots I suspected compacted soil. I did not have any Soil Conditioner products on hand, so I ordered them but they were delayed. Got the Yucca extract yesterday and Today I mixed up a gallon of Best Lawn Soil Conditioner and applied. Looking back I should have ...

Re: Ken-n-Nancy's 2020 "Driveway Side" Lawn Renovation

In that situation with the leaves...what are you going to do? Blow/mulch them off immediately? I ask out of curiosity and prep. I came home today and had leaves covering the area and I went out and mowed it the reno. (Keep in mind I’m trying to time one last Urea app before rain come) The ‘prep’ par...

Bloody stellar. Speaking of which, don't forget to shower it with the blood of children on Halloween night. Twenty ounces per thousand, watered in well, should do. /snark, which I should hope I don't have to say.

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 45

I got out late Sunday night (around 7PM) and dropped Urea on the reno @ 0.5 lbs per 1k sqft. It rained approximately 1/3” so I was pleased. I got out this afternoon and mowed again. Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 40

Well folks, I’ve made it to Day 40. I was out mowing our more established areas and decided to mow the reno again just two days later after my last trim. Why? 1) I had some time so I unhooked all of my hoses and completely freed the space up so I had no obstacles. 2) I wanted to see how much growth ...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2020 Version

I suggested we finish off this “L” shape section to complete the back yard entirely. She immediately chimed in...
