Re: Which PGR? - 1st-timer Cost Comparison Shopping

Uh-huh. Intend to mow Turf an hour ahead of application. Not sure your point but, thanks. Gonna give the T-Nex 1-AQ a try this season and assess notes afterwards. Thanks again ...

Which PGR? - 1st-timer Cost Comparison Shopping

Greetings all, and Happy New Year! THIS POST IS FOR MEMBERS WHO HAVE ANY ACTUAL EXPERIENCE USING PGR’s ... My question is: In Your Experience, What Is The Most Cost Effective PGR Product (brand name) for use on a blended tall fescue lawn? I am trying to find the most efficient Plant Growth Regulator...

Re: Can we talk about Fall Fungus?

Not so LOL, but, for many of us, there is no such thing as a “dead season” when it comes to the word, “fungus.” What else can I consider if I want to try to avoid synthetics as much as possible? Re: So how'd the season go for everyone?

... I'm looking into a robomower or maybe hiring an LCO to do mid-week mowing. Not precisely sure what “LCO” abbreviates but, would they be using your mower or theirs? I ask as I have learned (the hard, hard way) to never (ever) again let any mower on my own turf, that has been used anywhere I am n...

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

I'm surprised more people aren't posting about putting down a winterizer fertilizer app. Just sayin'. Ponder no longer! For better or worse, and after confirming no top growth, I had to drop my final feed of .75 / k of Southern States 37-0-0 yesterday (I have to rush out-of-town on business and won...

. . . what did you learn,
Just occurred to me I need to come back and, in addition to my initial reply, ADD how powerful application of beneficial nematodes can be — another great example of an investment that pays big dividends for quite awhile!

Re: Late Milorganite application

That’s the advice I followed and it paid off. I brought 15 bags of the stuff home and was hot to trot when I came across (first time for me) the Fall Fertilizer guidance here, realized my lawn was smack in The Pause phase and, as hard as it was for me to “do nuthin” I put the bags up on a pallet unt...

Re: Spring Pre-em accuracy

I’m quite used to marching to the beat of a different drum and I guess pre-m is another example of that, with me at least ... I no longer wait until I see the forsythias bloom; I had mixed results when I did (biggest variable beyond my control being the bizarre, impossible to forecast micro-burst gu...

Re: Leaves vs Sawdust

Just curious, are y’all referring to the wood pellets sold primarily for stoking the “pellet-burning” stoves? If so, I may have a source AND I’m keen on the much more convenient “spread-ability” ... ! With time to devote to it (at present anyway) I am big on investing the time and effort toward repe...

Re: So how'd the season go for everyone?

Great thread and reading Maizan and Urby’s posts I was muttering, “That,” “Me too,” and “Oh yeah, that, also.” 30k sf and I think biggest eye opener for me is a growing hypothesis that a combo of cultivation practices to prevent destructive fungi combined with a preventative program (lightest lowest...

Re: Odd neighbor behavior

Well, I am most relieved no more overt behavior evolved; sigh, unhappy / insecure souls; sometimes it helps just to remember what one cannot control (others’ unhappiness/insecurity) vs what we can (our reaction - or lack of “buy-in” into coping mechanisms (or lack of) which others found to be the be...

Sans any response here, I would check with my local extension service (usually associated with university research and experts) — they are incredible resources too oft-not tapped. Certainly, best o’ Success!

No need to wait and, to assist two endeavors (keep Andy’s “Fall-Winter” thread on track and assist you in The Golden State!) it appears “the fruitful end the rainbow” in CA may be the research and info published by the University of California - Riverside (UCR). Re: 2018: Your Lawn To Do List

I am contemplating my initial foray into the realm of Plant Growth Regulators (PGR’s), primarily on one (possibly both) VERY STEEP slope(s) in my yard which are not conducive to either mowing or xeriscaping. The one in the front is a must ... :-/ In addition to my need for more subject-matter knowle...

Kudos to you for wanting (let alone recognizing the need) to “better informed” as, “novice” and fungicides can almost be considered mutually exclusive ... not because of fiscal costs but rather the potential risks to the environment. ACCURATE (and timely) identification, Identification, IDENTIFICATI...
