Re: Aggressive fall N plan in michigan

No, it will make no difference unless there is significant sunshine and even then, with the suns angle not much at all. My soil temp at 3" is now 35 as of noon today. I'm glad I dropped when I did. The forecast coupled with my soil temps and lack of growth created the perfect timing.

Re: Aggressive fall N plan in michigan

We got right at 3 inches here last night with some winter mix before hand. Freep actually did a story about the early winter not that I really put too much stock in their stories. Geographically Grand Rapids is farther North than me by about 20 miles however I am much more rural. I'd bet that the wa...

Re: Where Are You With Fall Regimens?

Did my final application last night before the snow. Soil temp was 38 at 3 inches when I dropped and the snow started flying. Got 3 inches and the highs will not get above 38 for the foreseeable future.

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?

Last mow of the season with a bag. Got almost nothing. Serviced both mowers and home standby generator. Put lawn equipment away and moved snowblower to accessible location. Soil temp is now 39 degrees at 3 inches with colder weather in the forecast. Dropping final Urea app before the snow that is fo...

Re: Aggressive fall N plan in michigan

Most say in the 38 to 34 degree range. I will say that my soil temp dropped from 42 to 39 in 3 days so I'm dropping now. No sun in the forecast here and 31 high with a 20 low tomorrow coupled with highs only a few degrees higher for the rest of the foreseeable future tell me it's time. I'd rather ge...

The long term forecast shows it just getting colder with more snow. No more warm days in site. My soil temps at 3 inches is 39. I'm dropping my final app with the snowfall tonight.

I'm going to put it down with the snowfall we should have tonight. Ground at 3 inches is 39 degrees and it's just going to get colder.

Ground Saturation

Is the ground ever too wet to apply the final Urea dose? the ground in my area is completely saturated and I am concerned that the Urea will just run off and go to local streams / rivers / and the lake behind my house. Thoughts
on this? Trying to be somewhat responsible.

I'm a member at lawnsite too... All the Pro's are wayyyyyyyy too biased. They rarely will admit that they are wrong. I had a demo unit delivered and will try it out. My dealer is great here.

Re: walking on frosty lawn?

I just laughed this morning at a neighbors lawn service cutting his yard while it had a hard frost... They cut the frost off of it.

Any Scag owners here?

Looking at buying a Turf Tiger 2 or a Cheetah next spring. Nothing wrong with my current Zero Turn, just want a new toy plus I need a mower at my lake house and will send my current mower there. Thoughts, likes, complaints?

I have a dedicated Stihl stick edger and it is great. I used to have to edge around 500 feet a week at my last house and had no problems with it.

As long as there in no pressure in the back flow and the valves are open on it, it should not break if it freezes.

Turn the main water off. Turn a zone on to relieve the pressure. Turn the valves to 45 degrees and also the to little nipples on the BF to wide open. Let me get a pic.

Re: Frost/Freeze Right On Time

Mine is October 10'th but we had a very mild frost 10/12 and first hard frost was 10/16. I blew out my irrigation to early and had to redo it the other day. Greenrebellion- You are basically directly in line with me- You have not had a hard frost yet? I'm in southeast MI about 25 minutes north of D...
