Re: aug0211's Newbie Midwest Reno (Bewitched)

Nope. I would not begin to know what to do. Any suggestion I make would be nothing more than a guess. Maybe it would help. But maybe it makes it worse or maybe it makes no difference. But you've done something that no one here has ever done. My only suggestion would be to contact the company and as...

Re: aug0211's Newbie Midwest Reno (Bewitched)

That's not my concern at all. As I wrote, no one really knows the impact of massively over applying the product. But its been my observation that those who have success renovating their lawns are those who are good at paying attention to detail (things like the proper application rates of a product...

Re: aug0211's Newbie Midwest Reno (Bewitched)

Thanks TT and HLG. I'm definitely not an expert like many of you are. It's my first reno. I spent months reading ahead of time and truly did my best to learn as much as I could by reading this forum - as well as others. Hopefully, glypho acts solely as a post-m and not a pre-m. Have either of you tw...

Re: aug0211's Newbie Midwest Reno (Bewitched)

Concerns beyond time and money?

I don't disagree whatsoever - but am curious to know if there are other concerns beyond the obvious. I haven't seen anything about over application of glypho but I may have missed it.

More like 2.25 gallons for 2 applications.

Re: aug0211's Newbie Midwest Reno (Bewitched)

yes, slow I am! So my sprayer is 5 gallons at max, and I'm using 2.5 oz glypho/gallon - I actually add in a bit extra so I end up closer to 16 oz of glypho in 5 gallons of water (3.2 oz/gal) At 7.5k sq ft - closer to 8k now based on how far back I extended - I'm using probably 8 tanks. So 40 gallons...

Re: aug0211's Newbie Midwest Reno (Bewitched)

Thanks all for the input. Getting so close - I'm excited! Andy, if the difference between Tenacity and Scotts + mesotrione isn't big, I'll go the Scott's route. No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to get through a full spray application in 1 day, and I want to get through everything on 1 day for ...

Re: aug0211's Newbie Midwest Reno (Bewitched)

Need to finish app 2 of RU today. Going to just do the RU, and will do the Tenacity the day before seed down, since I wasn't able to confirm if I can mix Tenacity with my RU application today. Lots of rain yesterday, and shrooms popping up here and there. Any concerns? Lastly, I read a bit yesterday...

Re: aug0211's Newbie Midwest Reno (Bewitched)

Thoughts on including tenacity with my final RU application? I'm 25% through with my second RU app, but considering holding off on the remaining 75% and doing tenacity + RU together.

Thoughts here:
Save on time!
Save on surfactant

Thanks for any and all input.

Re: French Drain to remove excess backyard water?

I have an 80' stretch at the back of my property where my yard meets a common HOA space. The HOA space and my yard slope downward together, creating a nightmare for sustained, heavy rain. I installed a french drain this year (wow - it was a lot of work, I did not use a trencher). So far, so good - b...

Found a cost-effective remote sensor that works with IFTTT so I'll be doing some tinkering with that when it arrives and I'll post updates on findings.

Re: Rainbird esp-me controller

I think you want to do separate programs for each set of zones.
For instance - Program A (zones 1-3) runs on Monday, Program B (zones 4-6) runs on Tuesday, etc. etc.

I think you might run out of programs though, my controller only allows 4 programs IIRC.

Re: aug0211's Newbie Midwest Reno (Bewitched)

While putting down my second round of RU, I've noticed some of these guys coming up - is anyone able to help me identify what these are? I've been fallowing so it looks like that is paying off - a bit curious about what these are though, and if I need to be concerned about anything. https://s27.post...

Re: aug0211's Newbie Midwest Reno (Bewitched)

As expected, I was not able to get round 2 of RU down yesterday. Lots of rain today so it will be too wet for me to get it down tonight. The front and sides look very dead - I don't see any green in there, but will still plan for a second application to be safe. The back has a bit of green poking th...

Re: aug0211's Newbie Midwest Reno (Bewitched)

Rented a Classen, ran it on the highest setting for roughly 50%, and second highest setting for the other half of the lawn here and there where the highest setting wasn't enough. I did hit a few spots where I hit the soil and disturbed it, mostly where things had been pulled up in June from the irri...

Yes it will work. I will take some experimenting to get the right setting for best results.
Awesome, thank you for the confidence booster! I'll start as high as it goes and slowly work down if needed.

Re: aug0211's Newbie Midwest Reno (Bewitched)

Agreed... really hoping a powered dethatched set to the highest setting is acceptable? 1" above ground sounds pretty safe to me - anyone have experience or feedback?

Thanks again to everyone for all of the input. I'm learning lots and am really grateful for the input along the way.

Re: aug0211's Newbie Midwest Reno (Bewitched)

Would a powered dethatcher on the highest setting be a good approach? I see the below available for rental in my area, and specs indicate it adjusts up to 1" above ground level. It seems like that'd do great to thin everything out without disturbing the soil. It'd cost a bit more than a rake of cour...
