Re: What's happening where you live?
Negative 8 F this morning, lots of unhappy grass, possibly dead TTPR.

Re: Malt extract syrup
Yes. It's natural sugar maltose (a double sugar), so it's effectively just a carbohydrate. Think of it as spraying sugar on the lawn. Thank you for the information! How old is it and how was it stored? It may still have some use of you're a brewer. It may be tough to file enough to spray. I think y...

Malt extract syrup
So I got my hands on a lot of ‘expired’ malt extract syrup. Can I spray this (diluted) on both the lawn and garden?

Poa Triv kill off & replant
Hey all, looking for some advice; in April I nuked ~24 spots of poa triv 2-3 times. Dead dead…? I tried planting some seed but the random 90 degree plus days took a toll on 75% of the new grass. I’m fine with it, it’s for the greater good. However, now I am seeing some wide blade grass popping up, s...

Re: Yeah, another possible triv question... :(
For what it’s worth… I have the same in my yard. I went after it with glyphosate, by painting all I could. A week or so later it looked really stressed… and then went to seed! I dont know if because it was stressed it sent out a last chance but it’s making me go crazy!

Re: Weed ID
Thanks for the info morph… I’ll keep painting and look into digging where I can. Basically triv that goes to seed easier! Ugh

Re: Weed ID
Dig it out. Remove the clump, and replace the earth back in the hole (being careful not to put back significant root scraps, which will grow back). Optimally, just get a donor clump from one of your beds--I usually leave several growing somewhere unobvious in case something happens. Water that in--...

Re: Weed ID
Yeah definitely orchard grass… I have it in a few spots from when I did not know what I was doing lawn wise. Tenacity doesn’t touch it because it grows out too quick. Every spring I paint with glyphosate. Unfortunately even painting with glyphosate I get 50% kill rate. Stuff is not fun

Tenacity diagnosis dose
I was walking the front lawn earlier and noticed some faster growing grass... and it pulled right up. Lawn is thick and probably in best shape it has ever been coming out of summer. Only thing is it needs some fertilizer. With that being said, I’m worried there’s more I dont see, is it acceptable to...

Re: Heavy (but probably steady) rain and Fertilizer
Based on how the storm hits, maybe halfway through I was thinking of putting on a rain coat and covering the spreader. Crazy? Kinda

Re: Grassy Weed Id
So the coloring and growth looks exactly like what I paint with glyphosate... orchard grass. If it is, they’re tough to kill.

Re: Overseed Perennial Ryegrass With Fescue
I was always under the impression overseeding anything into a pure PRG lawn was extremely difficult, and even if successful, overtime the PRG won out. Has anyone successfully overseeded tttf into ttpr? I myself would be interested about the same attributes tttf would bring to the mix.

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Walked into backyard this morning and saw 5+ hosta eaten to the ground, one pulled up entirely... sprayed Andy’s deer repellant mix with Nu-film. Goal was today, they beat me by one afternoon!

Re: Lime green patches
Morpheus, Once the offending sections light up, I think I read that you will respray in 30 days? How often is this repeated? What else is involved? I will be spraying mine this week...thanks in advance. Gordon PS..I went to Albright's yesterday... Once. Usually that's all it needs. So an April/May ...

Re: Lime green patches
Howdy, neighbor. I always find P. triv easier to control, personally, so I'm not sure why people dread it so much. P. annua is the one I can't get a handle on. Maybe it just leaves me alone out of professional courtesy? But yeah, P. triv. Definitely keep a pre-emergent barrier up as much of the yea...

Re: Lime green patches
Morpheus, I feel like I read somewhere a breakdown of how you tackle poa triv. Do you mind sharing a detailed plan or regimen that has been working for you? Or maybe a link? I would greatly appreciate it as the patches of triv in my yard are really scaring me!!
