Tall Fescue Sod in San Diego 92117
Just wanted to share these. Hoping someone can help me identify the issues. I'm getting some circle patches. We laid it 2 months ago and we water it regularly by hose. We give it a good 20 - 30 minutes every couple days in the morning. The backyard was rock hard dirt but we did have it tilled and pr...

Re: San Diego, CA - Just had Platinum TE Paspalum installed
I was watering for 9 minutes around 6am every other day. I've been trying to do deeper soaks since posting. I also fertilized it once. I did get noticeably greener after feeding last time. I'll try to post again in a week since I just applied some liquid N. This is what it looks like today after wee...

Re: San Diego, CA - Just had Platinum TE Paspalum installed
My lawn woke up just after memorial day weekend. I guess the tarp and the bounce house got the dirt warm. Since then I started watering it again and have aerated it with a Yard Butler Lawn Coring Aerator. Some areas were rock hard. No wonder the grass hasn't been growing in those sections very well....

Re: San Diego, CA - Just had Platinum TE Paspalum installed
Almost two months since last set of pictures where I raked the brown spots. Still looks bad. I've only used Milorganite 1x since installed a year ago. Maybe should have used more. Also bonus picture of my large 20+ lb cat next to what I think is St. Augustine growing back fast in backyard. About a y...

Re: San Diego, CA - Just had Platinum TE Paspalum installed
lucasDOG, can you please post some pictures? How do you like your electric mower? Does it suck up the clippings well? I have a clippings catcher on my Scotts push reel mower but I'm finding I probably should be raking as well. I recently raked up a few big brown spots including this dead spot and AL...

Re: 2018 Yard Pics
Backyard is dirt for most part after tearing out Ficus trees few months ago but I pulled weeds and the new cat helped. Mowed the front down to 1" and landscaper who installed my Seashore Paspalum last summer randomly stopped by to make sure my sprinkler system was okay. I Also tilled that small patc...

I've been watering using same sprinkler timer schedule - every Sun, Tues, Thurs & Friday for 7 minutes daily around 6am.

(Disease?) Re: San Diego, CA - Just had Platinum TE Paspalum installed
I really need help identifying this issue and possible disease. This started about 10 days ago but looks much worst now. The rest of lawn is starting to green up out of dormancy. https://s31.postimg.cc/got1gwonb/20180501_091859.jpg https://s31.postimg.cc/4a69gkpfb/20180501_091912.jpg https://s31.pos...

Re: Fungal
10 days ago I noticed disease was attacking my Paspalum. I immediately ceased mowing and any extra activity on the lawn. http://s32.postimg.cc/gfxkaua4x/image.jpg http://s32.postimg.cc/t2uy4dvip/image.jpg http://s32.postimg.cc/h5xt3f6c1/image.jpg As you can see it got ugly quick. Turf was treated w...

Re: San Diego, CA - Just had Platinum TE Paspalum installed
I use a Scotts 20" manual reel mower. It's a small lawn and very manageable...I may consider an electric reel mower for more consistancy. I have not mowed all of 2018 but am about to!

Re: San Diego, CA - Just had Platinum TE Paspalum installed
Have not done much to the lawn in 2018 but pull some weeds. These guys seem to be popping up every week. They look like grass are light green and they stand out. For now I just pull them out by hand. Maybe they will go away once grass really starts growing...they are definitely annoying though since...

Re: San Diego, CA - Just had Platinum TE Paspalum installed
Cosmacelf, I'm sorry for the late reply but I have not had to mow my lawn in over 3+ weeks. I believe I'm dormant because the grass isn't growing and I have yellowish areas and the green areas are light green. I'll take some pictures tomorrow. How is your Seashore Paspalum holding up?

Re: San Diego, CA - Just had Platinum TE Paspalum installed
Thanks for keeping this updated and illustrated. I agree that those stolons look remarkably like bermuda, but the blades are too coarse for bermuda. I think it's the p-grass. Is your water reaching the edges of the lawn? Concrete holds heat all day and night which dries out the soil more. The grass...

Re: San Diego, CA - Just had Platinum TE Paspalum installed
I have not mowed since last Sunday. This is what that looks like. Lots of seed heads. I feel its time to do something besides water. I've read alot and lawn seems fine but feel it wont hurt to spread some organic fertilizer. Anything else come to mind? No weeds yet either... I'm just going to buy so...
