Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
I seeded some PRG and put down milo on Sept 8. I've mowed it twice now. How long should I wait before hitting it with urea?

Re: What do you wear?
Does anyone pay attention to glove thickness? I ask because some products actually specify how thick the gloves should be. For example the generic barricade label asks for >14 mil gloves, yet most disposable gloves are 4-6. From what I've seen, gloves that thick are like those bright yellow gloves y...

Re: Timemaster grass 'paste'
I'm curious if the blades seiyafan linked above would make a difference. Those are the mulching blades. The timemaster comes with high lift blades, which are more optimized for bagging than mulching (but are of course capable of mulching).

Re: Get rid of Poa Trivalis
When pulling out triv, is it a good idea to dig a bit out more to get stolons? Or do those only grow above ground?

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Rereading the original post, I'm realizing I shouldn't use Green Max since there should be no slow release N in the soil after first frost. I can't delete it so disregard

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
I have some Scott's Green Max I picked up on sale awhile back that I'd like to use to winterize, if possible. The label: 27% N 8.1% ammoniacal N 10.4% urea N 7.8% other water soluable N 0.7% water insoluable N (of the above, 6.38% is slowly avaialble N from Methyleneureas) When calculating my final ...

Does the fast germination of perennial ryegrass allow any shortcuts during a reno?
Most of the reno "playbook" is based on full KBG renos. Does any of that change when doing a PRG reno, given that it can germinate within a week and mature quickly in general? For example, what if you roundup day 1, then on day 2 scalp and put seed down, skipping fallowing? The weeds get a significa...

Re: Fight the crabgrass or save my battle for spring
This study (pdf) found that split apps were superior for crabgrass control to one-time apps even when amount was equated. They also used prodiamine (aka barricade), pendimethalin (aka scotts halts or others), and dithiopyr (aka dimension) in both combos and standalone and found that all of them had...

Adding Urea Ammonium Nitrate to tenacity - do I just dissolve it in the tank?
I have some bentgrass around my yard. I want to use tenacity to kill it. I found a study showing that the most effective bentgrass control was achieved by mixing in 2.5% Urea Ammonium Nitrate alongside a surfactant. Wikipedia says UAN is generally 45% ammonium nitrate, 35% urea, 20% water. Can I jus...

Re: Too much Tenacity
I'm not sure where this information comes from, but it says here that tenacity has a 5-8 yr shelf life if kept out of extreme temps.

Light, frequent vs deep, infrequent watering
Deep, infrequent watering is what's commonly recommended, but I found an article that disagrees with this: The recommendation for light, frequent watering reflects research by Dr. Joe Vargas, Michigan State University Turfgrass Pathologist, for over a decade. The recommendations are, however, differ...
