Re: Milorgranite vs alfalfa pellets
I used alfalfa before I found milorganite. Lawn really seemed to like it. Of course the horses next door kept looking at me funny.... Depending on Milo availability next year I might go to an alternating plan. My issue with alfalfa is that I can't fit a full rate applications worth of the stuff in a...

Re: Milorganite price hike
So I called and talked with the lawn and garden manager last Monday. Told him how much I usually buy and that I didn't understand why they weren't getting it back in. He checked the system and it sounded like they didn't have it flagged for restocking... Oops. They ordered a pallet Tuesday, it was t...

Re: Milorganite price hike
HD is the ONLY place that carries around here. I found a nursery that is starting to sell it, might try to get a pallet ordered at the beginning of next season.

Milorganite price hike
Looks like my local HD just bumped the 36lbs bags from $12.67 up to $19.24. Ouch. Going to cost me another $75 per application...

The models are not making things look any better for anywhere in the Carolina's or Georgia. Stay safe and get out if you can.

Yep, thanks for heads up. I'll be hitting the bleached areas again this weekend!! The blanket spray definitely helps put the target on the back of the bad guys.

Re: ZTR Tire Pressure
My Ferris manual shows 40 for fronts. Assuming you have the same treadless tires on typical ZTRs. FYI, I find 12lbs to be pretty low for rears. I need to run around 20 to keep a level ride and not too low on cut.

Re: Heads-Up: Best Time to Control Bentgrass
3 applications? I must have missed the memo on that, I thought 2 applications, 4 oz/acre, timed 14-21 days apart was the "standard"? Assuming you would need to move rate down to 2.6oz/acre for 3 applications?

Re: Guide for lawn leveling mixture, or just use pure sand?
I'm wondering what the best way might be to find soil/sand/fill that isn't full of weeds... I have a few areas of my lawn that need fill and seeding (particularly areas along driveway edge). I was going to fill with top soil from landscape supply house, seed, and then hit with some tenacity.

Re: Milorganite Summer Feeding
I've been experimenting with 1/2 bag rate monthly this year (not just summer). Seems to be working very well, only noticeable downside/concern is mushroom growth during our very wet late May

Re: Milorganite application frequency
To clarify, I will end up applying the same total amount of M over the season. Just trying to determine if there is a benefit to 8 applications vs 4.

Milorganite application frequency
In the past I've put down 1/2 bag rate, x8 applications over the year. My logic was that pacing the addition of organics to the soil would help keep everything nice and steady/balanced. Is there an advantage that I am missing by doing 4x at bag rate? Other than possible time savings?

That's very honest of you to 'fess up publicly! It takes courage to do that! I posted and then started my timer to see how long it took for Andy to chime in or someone else to tell me I should have read the post again... ;) You can only believe half of what you post on the Internet, and even less o...

Re: How Did The Fall Nitrogen Regimen Work For You?
My first year with aggressive late nitrogen. Went too early... Lawn is as thick and green as ever, but still had some top growth after application. It's been a weird year for weather. Next year I'm going to put together a soil temp logging system (I'm an IoT geek..) and try to be more data driven wi...

Re: ztrips fall 2017 soil test
Awesome. Looking forward to next growing season! I've read the "MAG", but mixing this one milo bag at a time is going to be painful. I usually put down 12 bags at a time for normal feeding, and that is half rate so I try to feed monthly. I have a 100lbs spreader I pull around, are there options to t...

Re: ztrips fall 2017 soil test
Land was primarily horse pasture, for probably 20 years before it was developed (developed 10 years ago or so). I'm guessing it was tobacco or corn before horses. I've been here 9 years. Started off serious but realized it was a lot of turf to try and keep perfect. Had a few years in the middle that...
