Re: Are "professional" turfgrass seeds the only way to have a good lawn?
I've had better success with what you're calling "professional" turfgrass seed over big box store seed. You can find some really good clean professional quality seeds at your local nursery / feed store. These seeds are more geared towards your climate and region. The big box store seeds seem to be m...

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Overseeded 10 days ago and am cutting back the watering schedule starting tomorrow. Most of the yard looks amazing! The strip along the road that gets full sun is just now starting to germinate. I'll hand water that section several times a day. I picked a dumb time to overseed though. We have had n...

Re: Grassy Weed ID Help
Looks like something similar to what i'm fighting. Have you considered trying this (linked below)? Contains Fenoxaprop-P-ethyl which is found in Acclaim Extra. I'm using this on what I believe is Japanese Siltgrass, Bermuda, Bent Grass or Nimblewill. Tried Tenacity and it didn't really eliminate the...

Re: Transition Zone Newbie Needs Help
Hello. My many internet searches have brought me here, and I've finally decided to swallow my pride and ask for help. A little background. I live in Norfolk, VA so I am firmly in the middle of a grass transition zone. I've been following the 4 step program of a well known company for the last sever...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Any harm in dropping my final winterizer Urea 46-0-0 application at 2:00 p.m. with rain coming in at at 8:00 - or 9:00 p.m.?
Temps are in the high 40's and I do not have irrigation to water it in immediately

Re: Final feeding question.
If you're cautious, then that's too much Potassium this late in the season. A couple of studies showed Winter Kill and Snow Mold rise with late-season Potassium. Also, the LAST (winterizing) application should deliver 1 lb/K of Nitrogen. That would be 10 lbs/K of 10-10-10, not 5 lbs/K. The 0.5 lbs/...

Urea (46-0-0) is the best and cheap too. Andy, What are your thoughts on using a 10-10-10 at 5lbs/1,000 s/f as a final feeding? https://www.walmart.com/ip/Expert-Gardener-40LB-10-10-10/166185332?adid=22222222254418684945&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=b&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=291938340609&wl4=dsa-504748227745&wl...

Re: Anyone Here Doing Keto Program?
I just crossed the 40-lbs lost number. I love the way-of-eating regimen, but don't want to add carbs back into the program (Diabetes), and I'm challenged to find a way to eat more on the same program (it's very satiating!). I'll figure it out... I’ve ate kerrygold like a candybar before. Might help...

This literally just happened to me yesterday. In-law backed right into the front lawn in his F-250. Was contemplating removing a strip of lawn from out back and planting it over-top of the rut. Small rut... life goes on I guess. That may work cosmetically, but it won't relieve the compaction. It ca...
