Overseed with 1" Rain expected?

Hi All,

I had the lawn dethatched and aerated yesterday and was going to over seed. However we are forecast to get 1" of rain on Friday. Would you over seed before or wait until after? Not sure with aerating if seed will wash away, or into the holes????

Thank you!

Drought and Fungus...Overseed or Fert with Pre-em

Hi All, Southern New England Northern mix lawn has taken a beating with drought (even with irrigation) and I believe I have Brown Patch. KBG lawn is ok except for a few spots. Should I let nature take its course and just put down my Fall Fert with Pre-em or overseed the lawn with patch ? (Obviously ...

Re: Poa Triv Explosion...Comfort me

Hi PALawnGuy. I am the OP and revisiting after my discouraging outcome. I had not seen you pst until today. I too, purchased the same seed from the same vendor with, what sounds like, same results. I swear mine was sod quality, but I do not have any more to verify. Its been some time and I am going ...

Haven't kept up with the lawn..but I'm Back..Suggestions?

Hi All, Past couple of years I did not keep up with things after I did an overseed of my back lawn (KBG) and it exploded with Triv. Basically got discouraged. This year I was able to get Baystate fert again and applied Prodiamine for the first time last month. Now for a plan for the Fall. I am going...

Anyone have luck with Baystate Fertilizer in MA?

Hi All,

Baystate fertilizer's last update on their web site was in April. Has anyone been able to get Baystate or are they no longer selling to the public?

Thank you

Prodiamine in MA??

Hi All,

Getting prepared to get out there with the Dimension app. However, this year I wanted to try Prodiamine and I cannot locate it nearby in SE Mass. Would prefer granules if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Thank you

Re: Final Urea App Question....

I am in SE Mass and was going back and forth with the same question. I decided to wait after the "monsoon" passes. We are getting decent amount of rain. I see a window on Wednesday before light rain moves in on Thursday, so hopefully this is it. As a side note, this was my first year using "aggressi...

Which I20 Nozzle is most common?

Hi All, I am replacing a few heads and wondering which nozzle is most common for the Hunter I20. The heads I am replacing are very old and the nozzle is not the same. I was thinking a #2, but looking for feedback. Typical radius of about 15-20', some overlap with other zones. New England area. Thank...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens

Did my first "aggressive" application this weekend. Was very hard to resist the temptation to put down more as the rate seemed very light. But using the suggested spreader setting, I put in 25 lbs for 20k sq ft of lawn. Had 5 lbs left over. Watered in. 3 days later the lawn seemed a little stressed ...

Re: 46-0-0 Urea

Hi All,

I am going to try this "aggressive: Urea approach this year, now that last year's overseed looks pretty good despite the heat. I too plan on 0.5lb N/1k, whichj would mean I set my Spyker spreader to be 1 lb of 46-0-0 per 1k correct?

Re: BSFertilizer and other fertz

Unfortunately, with COVID and limited contact with people BSF is only selling 50 bags or greater at the plant. And must be pre-paid and pre-arranged. For less than 50 bags, they are selling through a local nursery, at double the price...which is still much less than Milo...

How do I Kill off small Ants without Killing everything?

I have some spots in my mulch beds, along the edge near the lawn where small ant hills have formed. I don't want to do a blanket insecticide as not to kill all my earthworms. What do you guys use a spot spray or application? Thank you!

Re: POA Triv or something nightmare

I am glad to see I am not alone....At times I feel like i'm going backwards. I see these photos of these lawns ans ask"why can't I get that, I put in the time and effort"...KBG definitely slow to start growing this year allowing the lime green to shine thru...ugh..

Re: Poa Triv Explosion...Comfort me

Yes, I did specify "sod quality" and it was labeled as such. Just makes me wonder. We had perfect weather last Fall for planting, warm days, cools nights, and I watered lightly etc. Even purchased a reel mower and used that for 8 weeks. Just gets discouraging seeing that light green ugliness...

Poa Triv Explosion...Comfort me

Hi All, Back yard Elite KBG is finally getting top growth in SE Mass. However, last Fall I did an overseed with elite KBG mix from SSS. I did not mechanically disturb the soil, used a rotary spreader, but did top dress in areas; areas that now are exploding with Poa Triv...It wouldn't be the seed I ...
