Re: Tenacity use during overseeding after Pylex

The take home message is the most effective weed control with Tenacity is to apply it at germination/emergence rather than seed down. http://www.stma.org/sites/stma/files/Conference/2012_Conference/Gaussoinrenov.pdf There’s an actual paper out there somewhere I could not find it. https://i.postimg.c...

Re: Tenacity use during overseeding after Pylex

Check out University of Nebraska - Lincoln study on Tenacity/ mesiotrone. There is a misconception on ATY about how to use these products as a one and done at seed down. These HPPD inhibitors work best when applying them at GERMINATION. It’s not going to hurt your desired grass and is more effective...

Re: Adding OM - How much peat moss can the lawn take? (planning for 2021)

Is the timing of this key? I like to apply OM things in the late fall and early winter just because it’s cooler but there is very little “processing” at those times. I don’t think it really matters if it doesn’t get processed by microbes now it just moves to next spring. Just don’t go super deep an...

Re: Adding OM - How much peat moss can the lawn take? (planning for 2021)

Aeration is not suggested much on ATY but doing an aeration and filling the holes with peat is a good way to increase. OM.

I’m also another proponent of peat moss.

Combined issue. I was slow to react to initially thinking lack of water. It was both.

New Hampshire is in a severe drought and many lawns are toast.

Re: Ken-n-Nancy's 2020 "Driveway Side" Lawn Renovation

Yeah it looks good but these are tough spots. Instead of hell strips we have to deal with dead zones due to winter damage.

My town road agent say no way to anything in the ground such as stone within the right of way.

Definitely a challenge

Re: Ken-n-Nancy's 2020 "Driveway Side" Lawn Renovation

Have you had issues with the plow pushing the stones or gravel around?

Our Town road agent will not allow putting those stones in the right of way.

I’ve got the same issue trying to keep the edge between lawn and road a nice clean look. I’ve started maintaining mine like a mulch bed edge.

I yanked tons of them today before it rained. I still have tons more left, sigh! :(
Make sure you are getting good coverage with your PreM as spurge is an annual.

Sulfentrazone (Dismiss) will wipe out spurge.

Re: Disease EX Application?

I didn’t make any comment about effectiveness vs. pythium. I have no opinion on that. You said DiseaseEx is a low rate app and that Heritage G has a higher AI percentage, but the two products have identical label specifications. Just want to put accurate information out there for any readers who co...

Re: Disease EX Application?

http://www2.ca.uky.edu/agcomm/pubs/PPA/PPA1/PPA1.pdf According to this study by Rutgers, Wisconsin and Kentucky, azoxystrobin is effective against pythium. DiseaseEx is a Low rate app. You need more punch like Segway, Heritage G, mefanoxam which has much higher AI percentages. If you compare apples...

Take picture of the grass blades. Did those circles start small and keep growing?

Without seeing pics of the grass blades that appears to be dollar spot.

Is that a hill sloped towards your house? What is near the fence or on your fence line that water has to go through getting to your lawn? Whatever it is it appears to be following your the water. Take some pics of damaged blades and show any lesions or spots then show some pics of “good” blades just...

Re: Disease EX Application?

Ira e both Heritage and Diseaseex. Diseaseex has both a preventative and higher curative rate on the label. If you applied it at a higher rate than preventative wouldn’t that provide more AI and a stronger application? Aren’t we more concerned with the AI and it’s amount than a brand name or label?...

Disease ex on pythium is a complete was of monry it won’t touch it.

Roughly 45 ish days out from when your soil temps will average 50F.

There’s quite a few soil temp websites out there like green cast.

Re: Rising Temps Forecast new seedlings

I don’t know Nebraska weather well enough but one trick if your weather does tempt you to delay is you can extend the germination past the frost dates by watering a night to stop the frost from forming. If you are at elevation and can get September snow that’s a different beast. If I still had 95+ a...

Re: How is everyone making out with disease this year?

High humidity and hot temps with little rain destroyed most of the back yard. Currently under reno. Monthly Propiconazole treatments beginning in May did absolutely nothing. Clearys 3336 and Disease-Ex did bring back much of the front yard though. The back yard went from a few spots to widespread d...

I feel your pain. I’ve lived in 3 different homes in the last 10 years and starting over sucks.

This is a great time to just eliminate the weeds and fertilize.

Whatever grass is there should come back once we get past the waning heat of summer.
