Re: What so I do about my first-time frozen st Augustine lawn in Corpus Christi—

Thank you. I have a good source for corn meal. I do actually see some green already starting.

What so I do about my first-time frozen st Augustine lawn in Corpus Christi—

I’ve never had my st Augustine freeze and turn the color of hay. And we are in a drought. Cornmeal to start?

Re: New to Bermuda

So, you would only fertilize St Augustine in May, Sept, & Nov when you are using cornmeal or alfalfa pellets? I'm in coastal Texas--Corpus with St Augustine in front yard (west exposure) and Bermuda with some St Aug in backyard (east exposure) and I am about to put cornmeal on both. It needs mowing ...

Re: February lawn care in South Texas

Thanks! We just decided to go back to basics...spreading cornmeal we got from a feed store ($10/50lbs.) and pulling the weeds by hand. We haven't watered once yet because we've had ample rain. Our St Augustine yard looks the best of any on our street! We will continue following w your advice for fer...

Re: Pricing for corn, soybean, and alfalfa

Where can you get cornmeal in San Antonio? I can't find any here in Corpus except at HEB (grocery) -- I did pick up corn gluten meal at a nursery in Houston Heights last year, but I can't find any cornmeal at our feed stores, although they do carry the alfalfa pellets, which I put down last summer i...

February lawn care in South Texas

It's been drizzly wet and fairly warm in January and I've got clover and other weeds appearing in our lawn. We just mowed yesterday to help but it's looking like we may have a problem with weeds bc we were treating for a fungus last fall with cornmeal-which definitely helped but this warm, damp, win...

Re: Unhealthy lawn

Btw, our yard only got about 3-4 inches of rain from good ol' Harvey...we are about 40 miles SW of RP. We dodged a bullet that day.

Re: Unhealthy lawn

Oh wow--I am sorry to hear that about your condo in Rockport...they really got hammered. One of our friends here in Corpus retired and built a new home in Rockport just before Harvey. He and his wife had to relocate to a garage apartment in CC and are still there...Insurance says his house will need...

Re: Unhealthy lawn

My yard and my next-door-neighbor's yard continues to be the only thick green lawns on my street...and we are currently suffering a moderate drought. Just applied my FHS--Memorial Day dose of Aunt Jemima (had to go to 3 HEBs to find it bc they can't keep it on the shelf--not sure why lol). The neigh...

Re: Unhealthy lawn

I am a total believer now, thanks to DCHall! Last year at this time we had to dig up the fungus infected St Augustine in the front yard and replace it with more SA sod. So, it lasted awhile. Lol That same area started dying again this fall so by January...feeling frustrated and desperate..I started ...
