Tick spray for lawn

I currently have a company spray my yard 5 times during the spring/summer/fall using cedar oil (or something containing cedar oil). They say it's completely organic/natural/safe and once it dries in a couple of hours the kids/dog can be out in the yard. I'm thinking of switching companies as this on...

Re: What's with Milo pricing this year (at least near me)?

Thanks so much. I seem to be about 30 minutes from the closest location. If there were a higher limit I'd absolutely go, but for 5 bags it's not really worth the trip (unless I had another reason to be in the area perhaps). But thanks again and I'll keep an eye on them from now on.

Re: What's with Milo pricing this year (at least near me)?

Thanks and I guess I should feel 'lucky' that I'm able to get it for $15 on sale

What's with Milo pricing this year (at least near me)?

Here in southern CT, I'm seeing prices all over the map. One local place is still, relatively (for my area) inexpensive, at $18 per 32 lb bag, but it's usually on sale for $15/bag, so that's around $.47/lb. Another local place is $20/32lb so .63/lb Siteone has the 50lb bags but they are $31.47, so ....

Re: Status of POACure? (Updated 02/2020 below)

Question; if you could get your hands on poacure, would you use it in your lawn now, or would you want to wait for it to be fully tested (for safety?) / approved in residential lawns?

Re: CT Trees

Perfect, thanks. 25' is probably a good height for me, though perhaps I'll space them just a bit farther apart.

Re: CT Trees

Sorry, one more question; do you know about how far apart you planted your trees? trying to figure out how many I need. also trying to figure out if i should add more trees and stagger them, to help with privacy even quicker (or maybe if starting with such small trees it doesn't need to be staggered...

Re: Suspected poa triv not lighting up (white) from Tenacity

The triv definitely turning white now, just took longer than I remember. In any case, should I be hitting it with glyhpo asap, or wait for it to get a bit warmer? After several 70/80 degree days, we're back to 50s/60 during the day and 40s at night. Thank you.

Re: CT Trees

Thank you again for all the detailed info! I think I'm leaning towards doing this on my own. About 10 years ago I planted 3 tiny (from pots at HD) leyland cypress, and they are now quite large (10' or more) and doing great (with no care/feeding after the first year).

Re: CT Trees

Wow, thank you so much for the detailed info and all the pics. This is definitely food for thought, as I'm looking at (on average across a few estimates) about $6k for 16 x 5/6' ($372 each, installed, on average), $8k for 6/7' or $10k in 7/8'. Though I did have one guy quote $8k for 8' trees. When y...

Re: CT Trees

Understood and thanks! Also, just to confirm (even though you pretty much did above), if I were to plant 2' trees today and take excellent care of them, how long should (in theory) would it take for them to reach 5/6' (understanding of course there are multiple other factors such as sun/overall weat...

Re: CT Trees

Quick follow-up (in terms of larger trees); a local nursery told me: "Ours are all field grown balled & burlapped with an established root system. Once they are rooted in they will grow quickly depending on exposure, watering, fertilizer etc. There are places that will have what they call 5’, 6’, or...

Re: Suspected poa triv not lighting up (white) from Tenacity

I think some of it is actually starting to finally turn white. I'm wondering if shelf-life is an issue here, as my tenacity is probably 5-6 years old, and stored in my garage which gets very hot/cold... In any case, if I order new tenacity, what are you guys buying these days in terms of the origina...

Re: Suspected poa triv not lighting up (white) from Tenacity

Thanks. So far it's just remaining light/bright green (possibly turning brighter). I'll try one more light dose and see what happens but perhaps I was wrong and it's not triv.

Suspected poa triv not lighting up (white) from Tenacity

I have a few spots that I'm pretty sure are poa triv, but they aren't turning at all white from Tenacity. Is it possibly the time of year and/or the crazy up/down weather we've been having affecting this, or is it more likely just not poa triv? I've only hit it once about 2-3 weeks ago.

Weed/grass ID

Good morning. I assume this is just some random grass that I'll need to paint with glypho, but if you think it's a weed that I can instead spray with weed control please let me know. In some cases it's nearly a foot tall. Thanks! https://i.postimg.cc/SXDBTpVX/2023-04-19-07-47-58.jpg https://i.postim...

Re: CT Trees

Thank you very much (and sorry for my late reply). To confirm, are you saying that 2' trees if planted now, will grow minimally this year, but next April, May, June, etc... will grow rapidly (possibly 6'/year)? Whereas if I plant 6' (or taller) trees now, they won't really grow much for 2 years befo...
