Re: Triv identification

Thanks so much for the reply. Unfortunately it's in small patches throughout my lawn. Guess I'll have to go and roundup all the patches I can find and reseed next year. I have a feeling this is going to be a multi-year project of finding more patches presenting themselves

Triv identification

I suspect I have poa triv in my lawn in multiple patches. I over seeded with KBG a couple of years ago and am now concerned it may have been contaminated as I have multiple patches throughout my lawn of varying sizes. It pulls up really easy with a fluffy root system. https://i.postimg.cc/06ynQ2kq/P...

Re: Good seed source

There are many seed companies mentioned on this site. Just a few I have used are: Hogan, United, Pawnee, NE Seed, and Hart. There are also: Preferred, Twin City, Hancock, and many others. Over the years, I've had great experiences with Hogan Seeds and United Seeds. For price, quality, and service

Re: Anyone have luck with Baystate Fertilizer in MA?

Last time I rented a uhaul trailer and picked up 50 bags. Store it in the garage and it lasts me about 2 years. Use it for lawn and all my plants.

It was over the Uhaul stated weight limit for the trailer if I recall correctly, but I wasn't driving aggressively in any way

Re: Sharing my thoughts about TTTF

If you want Blue Green go with Midnight. Both me and my neighbor have a Midnight monostand. We have the darkest, thickest best lawns in the development. People walking their dogs will comment that our lawns are the best they've seen. On the NTEP, year after year, Midnight is always near the top in ...

Rebounder TTTF, sod quality at Hogans

I just received a 50lb bag of rebounder tall fescue from Hogan's seed. Thrilled to see it's gold label sod quality. It was cheaper than the 4th millennium I purchased last year from United Seed https://i.postimg.cc/N9pXzFmw/PXL-20210621-220400990.jpg Paid 2.49/lb and shipping was a little over $30. ...

Had a large section of this weed in my yard. Trimec weed killer a week ago (2,4-D, Mecoprop-p, Dicamba) wiped it out

Thanks Pway.

I went with 1/2 dose of triclopyr and 4oz/acre tenacity.

Re: Max dose mixing triclopyr & tenacity

Masbustelo, that sounds like a safer way to go. I'll plan for 1/2 dose of triclopyr and full dose tenacity.

Pway, what concentration triclopyr are you using and what area are treating with the 3 gallon mixture?

Max dose mixing triclopyr & tenacity

I'm looking to put down triclopyr next weekend and would like to mix with tenacity for added effect. Do folks typically mix at the max dose of each, or should I cut back on them? I would be applying to a mix of kbg and tttf. I put down Trimec weed killer a week ago (2,4-D, Mecoprop-p, Dicamba), so i...

Re: Grubs already?!?

I also live on the Cape and have noticed a lot of grubs while digging in the large peripheral area of my yard where I have mulch and plant trees/bushes. The lawn was treated with grubex last year, so I was assuming it was safe. Should I put down grubex again on the lawn this year given grubs may mig...

Re: Spectrum's 2021 Soil test

Thanks so much for your help Andy.

I forgot to mention in the original post that I had been working on my potassium, manganese, boron levels last year. Happy to see success with the potassium and manganese. I will carefully step up the boron for this year to see if I can get it a bit higher.

Re: Spectrum's 2021 Soil test

As an addendum to above: I had quite a bit of moss in the beginning of 2020 for some reason. This year almost none, except on the periphery of a portion of the lawn that tends to live in the shade

Spectrum's 2021 Soil test

Thanks so much for the fantastic help and guidance throughout these past 4 years Location is Cape Cod Massachusetts Total lawn size is approx 10,000 sq ft, made up of 5,00 KBG and 10,000 TTF For some reason I've experienced snow mold for the first time this year, even though it was a pretty mild win...

Re: I think I have poa triv

Tenacity also works well, that I've found, but you do have to keep after it. White and scared doesn't mean dying, as you noted--hit it twice, and whack it when it's down and scared. You have to keep it unable to photosynthesize. Also, make sure to add enough spreader sticker to your Tenacity. Latel...

some significant areas of brown patch over the last month. Put down disease-x but unfortunately caught it pretty late because have been really busy with work recently. It was my wife who brought it to my attention. One patch is around 10" wide :blackeye: Disease-X is making a difference and I'm star...

Re: Overseeding kbg into current lawn

Thanks so much for the replies KenandNancy and Turf_toes. I've been researching aggressively over these past few days and am starting to think it a bad idea to push the backyard to a high percentage KBG beyond the real issue of trying to get the KBG established. I've read that when the ttf gets too ...

And some interesting info from Michigan:

Not sure the amount of baystate I put down at homeowner levels could be any worse than all the pesticides the pros keep placing on my neighbors lawns
