Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Hand picked some weeds. My yard used to be 70% weeds, so this is more remarkable that it may appear.

I took my first ever soil sample and prepped it to send off on Monday. My wife said, "So you're just going to put a bag of dirt in the mail...?" Haha
:good:

Ha ha... and there is no going back after this.

Good luck with the party! Ours went great last weekend -- here's to hoping you have an equally successful one!
The party went well and the weather was perfect. I had to smile when my 20-something nephew was talking to me and said, "man, your lawn looks reallly good". Made my day :D

Applied 50lbs of Ferrous Sulfate just ahead of the rain. All part of my soil plan.

Re: Kentster Soil Test Evaluation

The Iron level is low, which will affect color. You can apply Ferrous Sulfate a couple of times a season at 2-3 lbs/K, or add Milorganite to your regimen off-cycle to the balanced fertilizers. Either will work. Andy, I ordered 50lbs of Ferrous Sulfate and applied it at 3lbs/k dry. It appears that I...

Re: Ken-n-Nancy's 2018 Front Lawn Renovation - Graduation Party!

Didn't have a chance to take the "regular lawn photos" this week, as we were too busy getting ready for the high school graduation party of our daughter! The lawn was key to the graduation party! Wandered about the yard with an adult beverage and enjoyed my handiwork... No backpacks, no spreader, no lugging 50lb bags.

Happy Fathers day to all of my crazy lawn friends!

Good general article from PSU that you may find helpful: https://extension.psu.edu/turfgrass-fertilization-a-basic-guide-for-professional-turfgrass-managers' For Logan Labs (especially your first test), take 10-12 soil samples from all over your yard, all mixed together and get one test. Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Put down 12-12-12 at 8lb/k rate as part of my soil plan. Also, applied Serenade with Kelp Help for the first time. With my 2.5 gallons of Serenade and garage full of Milo, I guess I'm officially a crazy lawn guy now :). My new sprayer worked great until I was just about done and the pump housing cra...

Re: Here Comes the Burn-Out

Pouring rain once again in South Central PA with a cold front coming in. My grass is being cut at 4" and growing back to 7" twice a week as I cut. I am seeing spots fill in nicely. It has to end, but so far so good.

Re: Ken-n-Nancy's 2018 Front Lawn Renovation - "War on Triv"

The grass is great and all, but is that a Triumph TR-6 in the garage? I love that car! Wow - that's one sharp eye. I usually try to have the garage door closed for photos of the house / lawn, but missed one... Had to search a bit to find a photo of our TR6 that is fitting for a lawn site. Remembere...

Lawn and gardens are peaking right around June 10th, just as they do every year. The slow start this year and compressed Spring Flush are over and the lawn has settled in nicely. The "Emblem" front yard is saying "bring on the heat" (it seems to love Summer heat).
It is a beautiful thing!

Cut @ 4" and my new sprayer arrived. Now I just have to figure out how to mount it to my tractor using the cargo tray.
