Re: It's Finally the Day I Consider the Beginning of Spring!!
it certainly seems to be starting a couple weeks early here in southeast PA. Some crocus flowers in the yard already, along with the star of Bethlehem popping up. Forsythia already has its buds, but no where close to blooming. seems its going to be a banner year for chickweed though. most of my beds...

Re: Anyone Here Doing Keto Program?
Spoke to the doctors office over the phone yesterday. will be getting retested in 6 months to see if there is a drop. Was also starting to think about a healthier keto diet and cutting back on some of the saturated fats leading up to this test. I went all in at first and was big on red meat, butter,...

Re: Anyone Here Doing Keto Program?
Hi Bales, did a lot of reading on cholesterol this weekend, well at least more than I have ever done in my life prior. there is a lot out there about cholesterol and keto. Seems that a lot of people recommend digging deeper into the LDL levels and seeing if its the big particles (good) or the smalle...

Re: Anyone Here Doing Keto Program?
Keto check in! Down about 28 pounds since I started back in June. I'm now holding steady at 155 (I'm 5'9'') for the past couple weeks and more than happy with where my weight is. I don't expect to lose too much more, but will be trying to maintain this. Decided to visit the doctor too and get everyt...

Re: how bad is this soil!?
It was really bad. When I first called and told them I couldn’t work with it due to the hard clumps, they asked if I tried breaking it up. While on the phone I started hitting one of the larger sized clumps with my shovel and said can you hear that? It was like hitting a rock it was so hard. Felt ba...

how bad is this soil!?
hey, no specific remediation plan needed. This is soil test for 5 yards I purchased from a supplier. Wanted to use it for some leveling, but after trying to work with it found it nearly impossible. It was extremely hard and formed clumps of all sizes everywhere. I stopped using it and to give the co...

Re: First time home / lawn owner - first reno attempt
just fyi - Scott's starter fertilizer with Mesotrione is 'tenacity', mesotrione is the active ingredient in the tenacity bottle. I can only guess the application rate is low enough for FF at the Scott's bag rate to claim safety for FF, but I can't confirm. Yes, the fall/winter will kill off certain ...

Re: First time home / lawn owner - first reno attempt
How shaded is the area you are doing the Reno? Depending on the amount of shade, you might not have to go the fine fescue route, many TTTF and KBG cultivars have good shade tolerance. In fact, most members here seem to avoid FF for a variety of reasons. I know this is the last thing you want to have...

Re: First time home / lawn owner - first reno attempt
Hey, Was just reading through your thread here and see you are putting a shady mix down. Does it contain a lot of fine fescue? I am not 100% sure and do not want to cause unwanted alarm, but I've seen lots of mentions how tenacity can impact fine fescue. Hopefully one of the experts can come along a...

Re: First time home / lawn owner - first reno attempt
Hey, it was “mulch and more”, believe they are in Malvern They came out and took the soil back, but I’m still waiting on refund. Believe it’s a family operation. Spoke to Jay there and initially offered to replace with a better load of soil, but I was already seed down for my oversees after giving u...

Re: First time home / lawn owner - first reno attempt
Hi, Glad to see another member from southeast PA, I'm in the west chester area. Good luck with your upcoming reno! I dont know if my situation is typical of most, but be careful with the topsoil. I used a supplier just recently and actually had them come out and take most of it back. It was severely...

Re: Dan's 2019 Soil test
Hi Andy,
that sounds like a good plan! I have one more milo app planned this year for labor day, so the boron can go with that. I grabbed an extra bag of Ferrous sulfate last year in Lancaster, so I have that ready to go.
appreciate the help and input!

Re: Dan's 2019 Soil test
Hi Andy - no, I stopped them after last year's soil test and went with your plan instead. The last holganix app they would have done would have been about a month prior to the 2018 test on july 26, 2018.

Dan's 2019 Soil test
Posting my logan labs results for this year last years results are located here: https://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=24355&p=326778#p326778 I'm wondering if there is a sampling error on my part since there is a significant change in the TEC. not sure if that is possible in a year....

Ah, I read to quickly and see you already used PRG in the spring.
Still think that’s your quickest option and now obviously a better time of year.
