Re: Canada wildfires
1 hour west of Toronto and we got nothing. Last week there were around 400 burning. I’ve seen a video of satellite imagery - clear day, vast landscape and bam… several fires ignite simultaneously. The internet “fact checkers” say it’s non sense. Therefore as I’ve come to learn over the last 3 years…...

Re: Nuked the Triv - Now seed, or sod?
Concur with turf toes. I’d add in - glypho 1-2 ft past the perimeter of the dead spot (get what’s spread below). Overseed or patch sod in mid August. I got hit this year as well. In a study I read, Tenacity at 2oz rate every 3 days in Apr-May was good for a long haul suppression battle. I accidental...

Re: Weed Control Regimen
I only have triclopyr and tenacity. For what it’s worth…. I saved a friends weed salad of a yard with triclopyr 61.6% ester apps every 10 days in the spring and fall (7ml with surfactant) and summer (3ml with surfactant). Tenacity 2oz rate every 3 days (4apps in spring). Tenacity 4oz x 2 in the fall...

Re: Amount of water per week: TTTF on clay
My soil is slightly heavy and drains ok. My fescue thrives with 1/2” every 4 days. I have an impact sprinkler I run at 6am. She’s mowed at 4’. I’m in Canada. We may have temps in the 90’s for 1-2 weeks. Personally I don’t frequent mow during those times and the watering will be upped to every 3 days...

Re: Spot Spraying with Tenacity....What's next?
This season I hit it with 4oz rate every 3 days.
Of course this was wrong.
The study said to hit it with 2oz rate every 3 days.
Thank God my fescue/kbg are ok. The poa looks like lightning.

Re: Important question for renovation
Consider your local temps as we move into the fall/frost. Milorganite releases slower than urea and requires active soil partly driven by warmth. I’m in Canada same latitude as Saginaw,MI. In my climate I’d be fine to do Milo now, urea 4 weeks post and then urea when no grass gets cut (the final mow...

Re: Important question for renovation
Look up sprout and pout. It’s best to not fertilize until you’re out of the pout. The grass is focused on root growth and you don’t want to drive top growth. Forget the calendar. After it goes through a cycle of germination, no new top growth (1-3wks or possibly more), then resumed top growth. Then ...

Big thanks to the forum, especially Andy and Morph. From soil test to sprout and pout and everything in between like poa strategies and triclopyr 61% rates…. This place has been invaluable. Week 4 now of first reno attempt. 90/10 tttf/kbg. Biggest obstacle for me was patience. Next obstacle may be t...

Right on Andy…. I swear…. There’s so much advice out there but when it comes down to it… you gotta do the right thing.
Gonna get the soil right and wait for those roots.
Thanks a million

Re: M's Soil Test 2021
When I say that the Plan is for one season, I mean one full growing season, not a calendar season. Stay with the 15-15-15 monthly until the average first-frost date, then follow the Fall Nitrogen regimen about the Pause and winterizing. Urea will be the last application after the grass stops growin...

Re: M's Soil Test 2021
Plans are built for one season. Beyond that is at your own risk/discretion Andy, to get the soil balanced right from this point could you please steer me through the fall time? The fescue has been mowed twice. The kgb is just coming up now. And today I threw down more seed on bare spots. Last ferti...

Re: M's Soil Test 2021
Ok sounds good.
So with the 15-15-15, go with 6 pounds/k on a monthly basis through until fall 2022? (Foregoing July-mid Aug).
Thanks guys!

Re: M's Soil Test 2021
Hey Andy thanks for doing this so quickly. truly. Very relieved she's in pretty good shape at this point. I have a lot of 15-15-15 on hand. Renovation seeding (90%tttf, 10%kbg) will be next week with peat moss to cover. Also... I have been advised to go ahead with 0.2pd urea 14, 28 and 45 days post ...
