Re: My local big box store got Milorganite in Stock, and I only bought 2 bags
The thing is, products aren't moral or immoral. Their usage can be. Will we condemn baseball bats because people use them to club others? Overapplying P, K, or anything else is a user application error, not a product morality issue. The bags have labels for a reason, they get reviewed by local regu...

Re: My local big box store got Milorganite in Stock, and I only bought 2 bags
Yeah no kidding, it's a great thing actually because we don't want to put down loads of synthetics or other chemicals if we don't need them. I hope to see even more products out like this and hopefully a blend so that you can get the full N you need without over applying the P or the K. If you go o...

Re: My local big box store got Milorganite in Stock, and I only bought 2 bags
because I am not a nutcase. Yes, I could've bought the entire pallet, rented a truck for $19 and had them load it up... then store it in my garage having it smell like sh-t (success) everytime I go to start my car. It's ok to only buy what you need. It must be a tough place living inside your head....

Re: My local big box store got Milorganite in Stock, and I only bought 2 bags
Oh heck I bought an entire pallet a couple years ago. But that was like 2 bags for someone with a 2500 sf lawn. That price goes up, now you see more players in the market. Lots of milo alternatives showing up . Yeah no kidding, it's a great thing actually because we don't want to put down loads of ...

Re: Is it ok to put down Milorganite when battling a lawn fungus?
Grey leaf spot affect PR and fescue - your profile shows KBG - is that accurate or a different area? It's also more prevalent in hotter, humid days later in the season. Has it been that in Chicago? A couple things to consider when diagnosing disease are what turf species it is present on and what s...

Is it ok to put down Milorganite when battling a lawn fungus?
My lawn has some sort of fungus. I think it's Gray leaf spot or something. I put down Scotts Disease Ex and it's helped.
Is it ok to apply Milorganite when battling a fungus? Why or why not?

Re: KBG Pots in NoMix lawn
Ummm, how to say nicely... I have a cocktail of ingredients that I've been testing for eight years, with success - but it has commercial potential and I'm not sharing the formula. Sorry - I'm just trying to be honest and not just blow you off, or ignore you. Did they steal the BLSC pretty much from...

Re: "Spider webs" in lawn this morning over newly seeded KBG grass
It could be a lot of things. (Including actual insects or dollar spot). No one can answer your question based on the information provided without guessing. Thanks, let me state it more clearly. The "spider webs" are Mycelium not from insects. My question is essentially: Should I apply scotts diseas...

"Spider webs" in lawn this morning over newly seeded KBG grass
So I see the little "spider webs" and also a few mushrooms. I noticed the webs this morning because of the dew. This is a newly seeded lawn with Betwitched/Midnight which is at 33 days old for most of it (except the bare spots which I added more seed) The rear lawn (perennial rye) has fungus through...

Re: What's happening to my blade tips
You’re on the right track, I definitely think it’s your mower. If the blades are good, it could be that you’re mowing too fast, or your mower isn’t running at a high enough RPM to achieve proper blade tip speed. If both of those are fine, your deck belt may be loose and slipping ever so slightly, n...

Re: Mowing when wet and the tradeoffs
Bagging when wet makes a mess, too...in the bag. There's no good answer, except maybe side discharge if your mower offers it. But it leaves longer clippings than mulching, which isn't great either. Yes, tradeoffs everywhere. I want to avoid last July’s fungus attack so I will error on the side of c...

Re: is this fungus on my perennial rye?
I'd get one of those blue hose end spray bottles of desease ex (Propacanazole) and put a heavy app out. It will kill all the stuff mentioned. Meanwhile try to figure out what you may have, more than one is possible like green said, and then see what cultural practices will help. Bag mow though unti...

use the original blade made for your mower, not an after market blade

Re: Herbicides to kill maple seedlings
they were all over my newly seeded midnight/betwitched lawn, of course every single one came up because they fell maybe 2 days after I put down seed. I pulled up almost 200 I would say. I pulled up 8 today by hand. I need to get them when they are young because the more the roots develop the greater...

is this fungus on my perennial rye?
Yellow tinge over the whole lawn. How could this happen? This is PR in it's first year. It was renovated last September 2018 https://i.postimg.cc/WhjFtrYJ/20190617-154833.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/fVRVfsNz/20190617-154825.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/GBB96jt6/20190617-154843.jpg Anyone know what kind of ...

Re: Insect Control
No, get a professional product. I tied those type of things and they are a waste of money. I got bifen for around $20 and use a pump sprayer. That $20 bottle of bifen will last you a long time vs those other products from the big box stores. It's a lot of money saved.
