Re: Help Identifying Grass

Just bumping this old post. I haven't done much with the yard since my last post, but am now needing to find out what kind of grass this is. Anyone know? I can get more pics if needed.

Re: Help Identifying Grass

Sorry for the delay. Yes, it appears to be pretty thirsty grass, though I don't have anything to compare it to.

Help Identifying Grass

Hello, trying to get a handle on what type of grass this is so that I can make my yard care plan. I'm in SF Valley, Southern California. This grass does really well in the Spring, half of it dies by the end of Summer, and it recovers fast as soon as the rains hit in Winter/Spring. I'd like to go wit...

Re: Raccoon infestation

As far as I can tell, the draw to our yard is that they like playing in it haha. Trash isn't accessible, there's no fruit, no real water source. I couldn't tell you if there's grubs but I doubt it. On most days, the soil is very dry and hard unless it's freshly sprinklered. The fence is lined with t...

Raccoon infestation

Well, it started with one big fat raccoon, maybe a year ago. Soon enough, I would come to discover that it wasn't the biggest, baddest raccoon around, it was just full of little raccoons about to hatch. Couple months ago, I hear the backyard camera alert and go to check out the video...SIX raccoons,...

Re: Best grass for drought in SF Valley

This is good stuff, guys. Thanks! I'll give this some thought. I'm actually surprised to see that even just a little shade from a mailbox can cause patches. I may have to post a pic of the back yard to describe the shade situation. Starting to wonder if just one grass is going to do it for the back ...

Re: Best grass for drought in SF Valley

Thanks, folks. I should actually clarify that I'm only considering the Bermuda grass in the front parkway area. I really don't like the look of Bermuda grass (I even catch myself yanking it from the sidewalk cracks around the neighborhood haha). But it seems to be the only thing that "wants" to grow...

Re: Best grass for drought in SF Valley

Yeah, not too far off...temps hit over 116F for a day or two this summer, stayed at 96+ for nearly the whole time. Just now cooling off, barely.

Best grass for drought in SF Valley

I've read a few posts about drought tolerant grasses on here but wanted to get some clarification on best grass/practices for my yard in the San Fernando Valley. The drought and heat have really baked this yard. The front yard is mostly drought tolerant desert plants, but there's a median/parkway of...
