Re: Rate Your 2013 Season

Nature was on my side this year which helped tremendously. Rains came timely and in adequate amounts most months with the exception of mid July through mid August but that time period was nothing my irrigation system couldn't handle. The heat and high humidity was not as bad in 2012 and I feel that ...

Re: Winter Height

I was at 2.5" thru most of the fall and was planning to be at 2.25" for the final cut but ended up going to 2.0" in the end. I don't feel I lost much additional color lowering down to that height.

Anyone in MN make the drop yet? Had highs of 38-41 and lows in of 26° for the last week... and doesn't look to be warming up too much. Re: Ez2luvlawn October 31st Lawn Pics

Wow. Did you have to close any holes to close from summer patch or were you able to keep it at bay (I think I remember you used Companion this year). Good memory JG. Yes, I used a combination of Companion/TKO Phosphites/Serenade throughout this season and I was very happy with the results. I didn't...

Ez2luvlawn October 31st Lawn Pics

I thought that I would post some final late autumn photos as my lawn season is completed for this year. Overall I will have to say that I am happy with the way this lawn season went. Weather was pretty good and the lawn is in good condition as a whole heading into winter. http://s10.postimg.cc/fx7a7...

Re: MFR78's first soil test from Logan

Your soil pH is very low and this is a result of having very low cations of Ca which will be our first order of business to correct. We want to increase your Ca cations and the pH will rise as a result of the increased Calcium. Turf grasses do best in a pH range between 6.1 and 6.8 Apply 9 lbs/K of ...

Re: Earthway Agitator Question

Good idea and may be worth a try. The only concern that I have with that idea is that I feel that the coat hanger wire will be to weak to stay straight when you fill your spreader tank with heavier weights of larger sizes of fertilizer prills. Fertilizers flow at very different rates and do create a...

Re: MFR78's first soil test from Logan

Hello MFR78 and welcome to the site. The soil crazies will be working up a game plan for your soil test that you will begin with next spring. It is to late in this season to begin with any soil amendments now as we are to close to ground freeze. I just wanted to let you know we have begun analyzing ...

Re: Earthway Agitator Question

The Earthway agitator is a very poor design. I also had the problems that you have experienced so I modified my agitator to work a bit better. Still not perfect but a whole lot better than the cotter pin design which is to small to pick up the material at the bottom of the spreader. I took out the o...

Re: Corn/Soybean Yields

That is real proof that a soil that is tuned up will produce great results over a soil that is ignored and not adjusted. Those are some big numbers in yields. Many farmers are done or near done here in MN. Corn has been up to 255 bushels per acre and beans up to 60 bushels per acre. The results are ...

Re: general lawn question

When your footprints keep showing in the grass and the grass doesn't spring back up it is time to increase your watering. Keep in mind that watering deep and infrequent is best.
