2 weeks apart? i.e., balanced on April 1, balanced on April 15?
Sorry Morph, type above… in the example I meant to write “Milo+B April 1, balanced April 15?”

Re: Spacklerstyle 2024 Soil Test

Thanks Morph! I greatly appreciate it. The lawn is already growing. We had a crazy warm February and are already off to the races. How would you recommend the spacing on the Milorganite +B and the balanced? 2 weeks apart? i.e., balanced on April 1, balanced on April 15? Also, ive been using a slow r...

Spacklerstyle 2024 Soil Test

Happy 2024 Andy/Morph, Please find my 2024 soil test. I tested the front and back separately this year given I was not pleased with the quality in the back last year. As expected, the front produced what appears to be a slightly better result. For years I have been applying the same treatments to th...

Re: Spacklerstyle 2023 Soil Test

I will go with your wise council. Balanced it is. How would you suggest working in the Milo with B? Milo has always done great on my lawn. Should I simply alternate balanced and Milo at 1 lb N /K every other month? Or stick with monthly apps of the balanced and add the Milo + B off cycle every 60 da...

Re: Spacklerstyle 2023 Soil Test

Ok, Andy - Logan sent me a revised analysis (and credited my account for the trouble). Great people, as you said. Here is the updated 2023 sample, which is much more in line! Also, something I didn't mention above, I'd be open to any thoughts you may have on using STP (or maybe MAP, etc) to suppleme...

Ok, thanks Andy. Crazy. They noted it AA… but clearly something is amiss. I’ll call tomorrow.

Spacklerstyle 2023 Soil Test

Hey Gurus, Here is my 2023 Logan Ammonium Acetate analysis. As always I appreciate the sage guidance to produce the most optimal, golf course lawn possible. I am mowing with a reel E3D at 3/8". Last season I followed the recommended guidance and I'm happy to report June/July was the best my lawn has...

Re: PGR for dummies

Thanks to you both! I appreciate the insight. I don’t see a strong supporting reaction to the use of PGR here, so I’ll refrain for now. I may put down some alfalfa, but for different reasons if it’ll take 4 months or so to see a growth regulating aspect. Things will begin slowing down by then anyway.

Re: PGR for dummies

How do you know your P levels are down? Are you testing at TAMU or Logan Labs? I hope you're doing TAMU and we can convince you to try a test from Logan Labs. TAMU has a history of problems with their soil test lab. Yes, confirmed through Logan Labs… and heeding the advice of the soil gurus on how ...

Re: PGR for dummies

Thanks Dchall. Yeah, mostly full sun, expect the side yard and a few places in the front. Now that my live oaks are 6 years old they are starting to shade out a few spots. The Alfalfa is interesting. Now that you mention it. I put down some Natures Creation 6-1-2 a couple years ago and the grass res...

PGR for dummies

I am interested in applying some PGR this year to better help slow the vertical growth of my Tifway 419 and promote denser turf and better horizontal growth. I mow slightly under .5” every 3 days (and happy to doing it). However; rain or life events can cause this to stretch to 4 or even 5 days on o...

Re: Spacklerstyle 2022 Soil Test

Thank you both very much!

No worries Morph. I think the second post was delayed (required approval before posting). I don’t think you missed it - but I reposted to bump it back ;)

I’ll use 1# P on the starter.

Thanks again for everything!

Re: Spacklerstyle 2022 Soil Test

Also, in addition to the April milo feeding question - I have one more... (albeit a bit of a novice question). The starter fert I am looking at calls for 1# P per K/sqft. This equates to 0.5# N per K/sqft. So... am I safe to assume that 1# P per K/sqft is the target, and the milo supplements (doubl...

Re: Spacklerstyle 2022 Soil Test

Awesome. Thank you very much Morph (and Andy)!

The lawn is already starting to green up - It's almost filled in through the topdressing. Should I hit it with an "early" app of Milo now? Or would that put me over on the N limits for the year?

Spacklerstyle 2022 Soil Test

Logan results in, done with Ammonium Acetate as per recommendation. My goals this year are the best lawn possible - going for golf course style quality (think, manicured, mowed low, deep green). Hybrid Bermuda mowing E3D at 1/2" with a Tru Cut. Micros are in play, as needed. Ran into some thatch bui...

They shouldn't, no. The super-closeup is symptomatic of a fungal disease that's attacking the tips. What, I can't tell you.
Could that be army worms? They are back…had to reapply some bifenrin.

Re: What’s causing the tips to lose color like this???

Interesting… Max I’ve used is 120 grit… although fascinating concept - I ever would have guessed too sharp is a bad thing. Seems weird though. Would overly sharp blades do this?

What’s causing the tips to lose color like this???

Hey Guru’s I need some help figuring out what’s going on here. My normally and otherwise pristine Bermuda lawn looks lime green from a distance… but that’s a result of the clear/brown appearance of the grass blade tips. Please take a look at these photos. I cut with my TruCut reel 2 days ago, and th...

Re: John P: Why Do "Desired Values" Change?

John, I also suspect (as Morph eluded to) that my early sampling was a bit inconsistent. In the last couple years I have done a better job pulling soil from a 3-4” depth (in the early days, I probably only had 4” before I hit the limestone bedrock below, so it was a more shallow sample back then... ...
