Seed source in SW Connecticut

Hello All, My usual source has dried up. Does anyone know where I can find quality seed in SW CT? I usually spread sun/shade mix. This is for a lawn that is under constant assault my dog pee, chickens and cars, so I'm not looking for super high quality mono-stands. All help is appreciated. Thanks, B...

Re: Bad news regarding Bay State Fertilizer

I just made the trip up today for a ton pallet.
Easynpeasy, though I did reserve/pay late March when they had inventory. Kim told me it would probably be June when they have more stock.

Much like last year, plus the addition of Zinc.
Should be easy enough.

Bryan K Soil Sample Spring 2021

Here are the results of my recent soil analysis. Please focus on the Front as this is the main lawn of focus. If time permits, analysis of the side/back would be great. The front yard received a full renovation in the Fall of 2019 after several years of neglect. It is ~13K sqft, moderately sloped, s...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens

Hey All, I was hoping for a bit of advice with the Fall Nitrogen Regime, and appropriateness for me this year. This year was the first year on a full reno from Fall 2019. Thing went very well in the Spring, well into Summer (following soil test reco's religiously). Summer heat and increased dog pee ...

Source for Urea or AS in CT?

Hello All,

I"m in Southwestern CT, and my Site One only has 28-0-3.
Does anyone know where I can source Urea or AS in the local area?
Online is doable, but with shipping it negates the cost savings of using the synthetics...

All help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Bryan

Re: tph018's Soil Test: April 2020

Hi @bryankloos! We should definitely meet up... I live in neighboring Wilton! I have been at this lawn care stuff for the past 5-6 years, time permitting of course, but it is enjoyable to see results at the end of the day when the work is put in. If you are ever on the look out for lawn amendment s...

2nd PerM Application Timing

Hello All, I applied 0.6oz/k pridiamine on 3/22. I have applied noting since as I was contemplating some reno/overseeding this fall. Seems the grass filled in well so no need for seeding this Fall. I have prodiamine and ditiopyr on hand, and wondering when to apply next? I did have some winter weeds...

Re: Bryan K Soil Sample Spring 2020

Hi Andy, Just curious about how long I to the season I should continue the urea. I’ve been at 1lb/k urea every 2 weeks. Things seems to be getting a bit orange where the dogs have been helping with the fertilizer. Shouldn’t lay off on the urea, wait a while and then switch over to a slower/milder N ...

2nd Pre-M Application Timing and Dose - Fall overseed/Reno

Hey All, I'm planning my second Pre-M application and wanted to get thoughts on timing and application. My first app of Prodiamine went down 3/22 at 0/6 oz/K. I was planning on applying Dithiopyr on 5/15. I plan to do rull reno on a couple small areas of the lawn this Fall (removing playset, levelin...

Re: Zebra Stripes

I’m gonna get a good look at the spinner in action. The stripes seem too narrow to be overlap from adjacent passes. It’s almost like it’s dumping straight out without being broadcast.

Zebra Stripes

Hi All,

I have some dark green zebra stripes.
I applied iron about a week ago and urea 2 weeks ago.
I"m guessing my Scotts rotary spreader is not broadcasting corectly?
Any suggestions as to how to assess the cause and remedy?
Thanks,
Bryan

Re: 2020: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Mowed and applied 2lb/k glutamate and also had all the gardens cleaned, edges cut, and mulched. With the isolation from Covid its nice to have things starting to look good outside. I imagine we will be spending a lot of time in the back yard this early summer while we wait for the lifting of social ...
