Re: overseed - tenacity bleached seedlings
I might have lost a couple here and there but Yes it will survive . This is what mine looked like on first day of germination . I sprayed tenacity 4 days after seeding . https://i.postimg.cc/nC56FFG8/BE7-E7630-284-D-49-B9-BA30-B25466-F98991.jpg This is what that same area looks like now ( 28 days fr...

Re: Help diagnosing yellowing KBG
Yeah too wet. Go to deep and infrequent watering and let it dry out. Treat with fungicide for good measure if you like. I think you’re right about too much water . I haven’t watered since yesterday afternoon and the grass is looking better today . 90 degrees today maybe helped it dry out a bit and ...

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Let my 24 days old KBG cook in the 90 degree heat with no water since yesterday morning. And guess what ? Looks like some of it is starting to take off . I’m still not sure if I was over watering or under watering but since it’s looking better with less water I’m let it do it’s thing without messing...

Re: Help diagnosing yellowing KBG
Would checking the soil with a screw driver be a good way to gauge the watering needs ? I can pretty much go 4-6 inches with minimal resistance throughout the whole reno.

Re: First time home / lawn owner - first reno attempt
For wild onions you have two options A) Use a plugger like Proplugger 5-IN-1 it’s on Amazon and pulls the hole plant with the bulbs smoothly and cleanly . B) Use any 2,4-D herbicide like weed b gon and brush the leafs from top to bottom and it’ll die in a few days . I’ve used both methods with succe...

Re: Help diagnosing yellowing KBG
That pick at the top looks like it came in pretty thick. Maybe too thick. Back off the watering. Some Chlorosis. Might have encouraged fungus. I doubt its out of sprout n pout yet, so that fertilizer was probably too early. It can push top growth too soon. Water it once a day, then every other day,...

Re: Accurate DIY Soil pH Kit?
Anyone use a DIY soil pH kit that you've found to be pretty accurate? Id like to start testing my soil on a regular basis but don't want to send it out everytime. Ive seen them at the big box stores but not sure how accurate those are. The one they sell at Lowe’s was accurate with my P and K defici...

Maybe put some in a cup of water and see how fast it dissolves . Slow release fertilizers take forever to dissolve . Fast release Urea would dissolve in a couple minutes .

Re: Fertilizer for renovation
I think that soil test results from the box stores are a joke, and a waste of time. If they had any value, do you think farmers wouldn't save a boatload of cash using them instead of the testing in a calibrated lab? I have no opinion about the results from the University of Delaware - I have not (a...

Honest opinion? I think that considering things like Humic Acid before you have the basics covering is looking for a miracle-in-a-bag. I have never seen a search for shortcuts and miracles work out well. Hey Andy what do you think about the soil test kits at box stores ? I used one and it’s showing...

Re: Fertilizer for renovation
Let it grow. Water it well. Things like humid acid etc are nice to haves That’s the plan . I just see so many posts and comments about these products makes me wonder if I need it . I’ve successfully planted grass seed before with just water ( not even peat moss) . The one time I go above and beyond...

I did it 4 days after seed down ( had no germination at the time ) and it bleached a decent amount of the newly germinated seeds . They’re growing fine it’s just the color that’s kinda strange. It’s like a white/purple color .

Re: Fertilizer for renovation
Use the Search tool to research "Sprout-and-Pout". Applying fertilizer too soon can cause forced top growth when the grass wants to (and should) be building a root system. I’ve been reading through the hundreds of sprout and pout posts and I think I’m still not there yet . What do you think about p...
