Re: AndyV 2021 Soil Test

Andy, thanks for that. Even without all of the nuance, I think I got your point. I know it will take years to get the roadside OM up, thankfully the rest is not that awful. It's helpful to know that Humic is part of an overall regimen. I will start the Humic (I have local access to the Anderson's pr...

Re: AndyV 2021 Soil Test

Andy, I had a chance to do some reading on Humic. I read through your thread and obviously there are good benefits to it, and I did read your bullet points. Yet I am not sure I understand exactly what it is doing. Is it just raising TEC as a crutch until you get better OM%, or is it actually raising...

Re: Matted down, yellowed patches in lawn

Thanks. That's what I figured. I did plant a blend, but I have no idea how much of the KBG actually germinated. I'm not counting on much spread, but thankfully I have plenty of leftover to overseed these patches. The positive of needing to over seed will be that I can be ruthless digging up the wild...

Re: Matted down, yellowed patches in lawn

Morpheus, let me know if these photos are helpful. The rest of the lawn looks amazing, which is why these concern me at this point. I had a lot more of these patches two weeks ago, but nothing seems to be happening in these spots. The rest has greened up perfectly and is ready to cut. https://i.post...

Re: AndyV 2021 Soil Test

That would be great. I haven't done much reading on Humic, so if you'd rather point me to an existing thread, please let me know. Otherwise, let's discuss here.

Re: AndyV 2021 Soil Test

Andy, thanks so much for your time on this. I've already got the calcitic lime, epsom, and SOP. Last year you recommended 9lbs/K of lime every 90 days, is that still the case? I was confused by what you wrote in your last reply. I know that adding OM is a marathon, but these results indicate a need ...

Re: Matted down, yellowed patches in lawn

Out of respect for the OP, I'll hold off unless they think it will be helpful to them, which it probably will be. Otherwise, I'll start another thread.

Re: Matted down, yellowed patches in lawn

Morpheus, if patches on your lawn still look like this at this point in the season, would you worry?

Re: AndyV 2021 Soil Test

Andy, here are the latest results. This seems to make a lot of sense now. My only additional question to what I wrote above would be how to improve the roadside soil, so it actually becomes something that resembles soil rather than gravel/sand. Thanks again for your time and help. https://i.postimg....

Re: AndyV 2021 Soil Test

Andy, I was really surprised by the difference as well. Aside from the difference in sampling methods described above, I can only think of there being a difference in WHERE I took the samples. I took ~12 cores from various spots in the lawn. And despite the lawn only being 25 feet wide, you can see ...

AndyV 2021 Soil Test

Thanks to all of the volunteers that take their time to help out with these interpretations. It's much appreciated. https://i.postimg.cc/1gbrdW8S/Andy-V-2021-Soil-Test.png First, a disclaimer: Last year when I took samples, I used a trowel and sampled at 4", but I included the entire sample depth, n...

Re: Where is the Forsythia Line?

In Reading, MA, I have a few buds that opened up this weekend. I put down Dimension yesterday. Unfortunately, there are a handful of weeds that had already come through, so I hand pulled those before I put down the pre-M. I also dug up nearly 100 wild onion and wild garlic bulbs. I should have taken...

Re: Where is the Forsythia Line?

Just starting to pop here outside of Boston. Got the preM down last night for today’s rain I'm in Reading, MA and mine (which have southern exposure) have not opened yet. It's amazing the differences even short distances apart. Two towns over in Winchester, the leaves are already partially out on m...

Any harm to applying pre-M slightly early?

Forsythia has not bloomed here yet, but should within a couple weeks. Wanted to apply Pre-M tomorrow because we are supposed to get 0.6 inches of rain on Sunday. If it doesn't rain, I'll water it in, but I'd like the free water since my water costs over 3 cents a gallon. We had a major drought here ...

Sprayers

As I prepare for the upcoming season, I'm thinking about sprayers. I'd love to get a real nice one like the Flowzone Typhoon 2.5, but I'd only want to spring for one of them, given the cost. Is using a single sprayer a bad idea if you're running the triangle approach? Like, how hard is it really to ...

Re: Sharpening Mulching Blades

Thanks, guys. I have 10 blades to maintain (2 sets of 3 for my tractor, and 2 sets of 2 for the push mower), so we will see how I decide to do it. For now, I plan on using the mill bastard file by hand.
