Re: Did We Overpay for Our Core Aeration/Overseed??
Yeah, I would say you overpaid. How much compost did they spread? Did they invoice you number of yards of material. Back years ago when I used to aerate, I would pay a guy $60 to just aerate my 1/4 acre yard, double pass. I would seed myself. Haven't aerated in years, but can't imagine cost is that ...

Re: Does Tenacity kill Dallisgrass?
triclopyr + tenacity will hurt it pretty bad. Some will survive though. I usually just end up spot spraying glyphosate and reseed.

Re: Tenacity vs Poa Trivialis: Your Results
Tenacity is not labeled for triv or annua. Just so everyone knows I am only seeing what results I can get from my own personal experiment. I applied tenacity + triclopyr in 3 day intervals for 3 total applications to my triv and annua spots. If nothing happens, no big deal, I will kill off in the f...

You don't have to cover your seeds with anything if you have irrigation or sprinkler set up. Straw is the absolute worst though.

Re: Advice on overseed timeline in Raleigh (still blazing hot!)
No, not a good time to overseed in Raleigh now. Look at mid to late September. I've had great success into early October, but mid to late September is optimal.

Re: How is everyone making out with disease this year?
Very wet spring and summer, rains almost every day. I treat my front and side yard (12,000 sqft), 95% disease free, doing good. Back yard (20,000 sqft) untreated has disease, probably 70% disease free. Constant rain and with hot North Carolina humid air, what are you going to do. My main issue now i...

Re: Crabgrass Control
For crabgrass, best way to kill is quinclorac + mso (methylated seed oil). I use Drive XLR8 (18% quinclorac), you can find cheaper products online. Forget the stuff at lowes, not enough quinclorac and you don't need a 3 way mix.

Re: Fescue Lawn Care | Northern VA
FYI - azoxystrobin won't do anything for dollar spot, great for brown patch though. Use propiconazole for dollar spot, you can apply both at same time if unsure what you have. There are a few fungicides that have both azoxystrobin and propiconazole mixed.

Yes quinclorac absolutely needs mso or won't work as well. I believe this is actually stated on some labels.

For me Drive XLR8 (quinclorac 18.92%) + MSO smokes crabgrass.

It rains pretty much every day here. 9" in May, and close to 4" so far in June at my house. 2 cut off lows and training storms. Odd year.

Same thing with 3 of my 4 Japanese Maples this past winter. But it happens a fair amount where I am. I think it has to do with milder winters, least that's my theory.
