Chris T 2024 Soil Test
My lawn is look better year after year! Thank you so much for the help! I cut my lawn around every 5 days at around 3 inches and last year and I’m still bagging due to a never-ending red thread problem. I did not do any dethatch or aeration this year. My lawn is about 3000 sq ft. I followed the sugg...

Chris T Soil Test 2023
Thank you so much for the help last year. My lawn is coming along and looking better each year. I cut my lawn around every 5 days at around 3 inches and last year and I’m still bagging due to a never-ending red thread problem. I lightly dethatched in the fall and over seeded some areas along with a ...

Not sun damage, grub control
I noticed a dead spot by my fence which I assumed was from the reflection of the sun off the fence which has happened to me in previous seasons. Low and behold there were grubs under the dead turf. I applied bio advanced season long grub control after realizing maybe i should have used the 24 hour g...

Re: Adding peat moss to soil after overseeding
Yes, I read some posts after posting this and realized that aerating is probably not a good idea. I’ll probably do a light dethatch to scratch the soil a bit. Thank you!

Adding peat moss to soil after overseeding
I’m planing to aerating and over seed my lawn in a few weeks, and was going to add a thin layer of peat moss. My pH in the spring was 6.8. Will adding the peat moss acidify my soil too much? Should I also be adding lime at the same time?

Fungicide recommendations for red thread in NY
Currently I’m using Strobe Pro G for red thread treatment and I’m struggling to find another fungicide with different active ingredients to alternate that is available in NY. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Chris T 2022 soil test
Thank you so much for the help last year. My lawn is definitely looking better already but I know I have a long way to go. I currently have red thread that I treated recently with heritage and it is doing the trick. I’m a beginner when it comes to lawn care but definitely learning a lot from these f...

Re: Red thread
Thanks everyone. I’m going to try the Scott’s disease ex since I haven’t had luck with the bayer, and it seems from research that the azoxystorbin works best for red thread. Andy- would any over-seeding run the risk of overcrowding? Can you recommend a different brand of seed to use. My lawn current...

Re: Red thread
Thank you so much!
I actually started a lawn diary this year. I will def stay on top of it for next year. Thanks for the case study. I will read up.
That urea app sounds interesting. Would this be ok to apply in the summer? I have already put down milo with my micronutrients about a week ago.

Red thread
I’ve been dealing with red thread for the past 2 years now. Unfortunately, I didn’t put fungicide down until after it appeared (stupid). Last year I used Scott’s disease ex and this year bayer fungicide. None of these seemed to work and I still have brown patches with little red thread at the top of...

Re: Grass browning in spots
Thanks. Yeah my grass does look good compared to the neighbors except for the burnt spots. I was also looking to overseed this fall after the pro d wear off. I was planning on doing a separate post on recommendations for seed brand and type.

Re: Grass browning in spots
It’s possible, but I’ve never had this problem before. My neighbors recently cut down a large tree so there is more sun exposure. Also I noticed one of my sprinkler heads needs to be lifted so maybe that’s the issue.

Grass browning in spots
I have been following my soil test recommendations. I also have been seeing some red thread and treated about 3 weeks ago with Bayer fungicide. I also put down tenacity last week (1/2tsp per gallon) mixed with prodiamine (suggested rate as per prodiamine calculator) for my second pre/post emergent a...

Spreader setting
Hi everyone, I was attempting to put down 2lbs per K or Sulfate of Potash and was having a little trouble because of the large granules. I have a Scott’s edge guard mini and was using 3.0 setting. It seemed like the gate was getting stuck open and not much was coming out . I didn’t want to put down ...
