Re: Where is the Forsythia Line?
Saw on with a few yellows on it up here in Eastern CT. They were in full sun however and it has been in the 60's and 70's for a week or so. Mine in my yard aren't quite there yet. Probably going to throw down in the next 5-7 days.

Re: Looking Forward to 2021 Season
Plan number #1 is to not use Round Up by accident on the front yard. I now have two separate sprayers for chemicals which will prevent it from ever happening again. Other than that, looking forward to getting rid of the white stuff

Re: Does Nimblewill Die With Winter Weather?
I had it a few years ago and found that I was able to get rid of it my raking it with the thatch rake during the winter when it was dormant, but when the ground wasn't "frozen solid". It eradicated it in one area that was pretty tough.

Re: What's Going on With My Lawn?
I noticed the same thing on my neighbors lawn. At first thought it might have been spot treatments for weeds, but almost looks like fertilizer burn on his. Yours definitely looks like a different issue. the texture of the weed/grass in that pic suggests to me that whatever is there is dying off a bi...

Re: Frost: Right On-Time?
Here in Eastern CT. Growth has slowed a bit, but still pretty good rainfall and climbing temps should make the next few weeks very interesting to say the least.

Re: Best time to kill and reseed?
Looks good. I had two patches in my yard that got accidentally nuked this summer by roundup that are in the stage of a re-seed and comeback. One area looks awesome (like better than before the messup. LOL). the other, not as great, but still coming along.. Used some compost from last years leaf pile...

Re: More than Sprout and Pout?
Understood. Tough year and being on well water, a ton of neighbors wells have been running dry. Obviously trying to avoid that as much as possible. Although, we are down 650 ft, don't want to push my luck. I have been babying my front quite a bit and used some compost to hold moisture with good succ...

Re: More than Sprout and Pout?
Your complaining about 3 weeks, we haven’t had a decent rain since May 😢 This year has me thinking to never give anyone seeding advice if they don’t take watering seriously. Seriously meaning a sprinkler system or at least a semi permanent hose end timer. I just have no faith Mother Nature will get...

Re: More than Sprout and Pout?
Its definitely a water issue. I reseeded my summer mistakes (damn you roundup!) and was seeing some good germination, but the latest dry spell for 3 weeks with nothing has me watering every day again to get it back to where it needs to be. I am just over the RI border in CT so I feel your pain.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
I am glad I am not the only one in the drought predicament. That said, Mine rebounded a little with steady feeding of milorganite, but normally strong areas look a little frail. Been a weird summer...

Re: How many weeks when it's green again?
Mine has been awakening nicely in spots. I started some milorganite a few weeks ago and it started to green up. Still some spots that got hammered by full sun are struggling.

Re: Help identify problem with lawn
Looks to me that their is a bunch of grass that has been cut that was too long to be cut? Hard to tell from the pics though. Could be a fungus possibly?

I live with a well and a pool . Does not give me much discretionary water to spend on the lawn, but I do what I can.

Bonehead move
I made my first MAJOR bonehead move using my sprayer. in early june Everything was going great early in the season and I decided it was time to spray Roundup on some areas of my property where we have stone, etc (along our driveway). Got distracted and went back to my shed to get the Triclopyr to sp...

Re: Bentgrass Greens
Most higher end courses roll the greens regularly to smooth them and make them faster. That really causes compaction (on top of the obvious foot traffic) Verticutting allows them to cut down (usually 1/16' to 1/8") and kept the grass much healthier. Greens are relatively fragile and can be temperame...

Re: Bentgrass Greens
I worked at a course as an assistant to the super (basically rode a mower all day. lol). Our course used to aerate and topdress at least 2 x per year on bent grass greens and verticut on an as needed basis. The reason we verticut so frequently was we regularly rolled the greens which made for better...
